The Bloodletter, the Terminator and the Pillar

Bit of a duel, going on here, and wanted to see how to approach the limits you have with the Duel category at GDs! So I went up a bit!

The base is a stand-in at the moment, but the good thing is that it\'s spot on 50mm in diameter, so I can accurately get things in the right place. Which is why all the things you see are in various states of construction!

Looking good so far, I take it the bottom of the base is 50mm, so the models will actualy sit flat on the proper base :)

Can\'t wait to see it painted!

This is going to be one to watch! I\'m liking this already.

I like it because you always have Daemons so vicious and confident about killing, but this one will be a bit caught off guard and definitely off-balance. May I make a suggestion? On the point of impact between the pillar and power mace, you should put a series of spiderweb cracks to make it look like it was just struck hard with an incredibly hard blow. Just an idea.

I can\'t wait to see this thing built and painted!

Cheers,
Jake

Are you going to try to add some shrapnel/particle effects from the blow (Like that IG diorama with the bullets ripping through the wall)

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out :)

Great dynamics and composition :)!

I\'d bend the lower right leg of the demon up to make it look more like he\'s plunging down head first to attack rather than falling off ;).

Thanks guys. The project\'s taking a slight detour - whilst I really liked the falling BL, the space I needed to convincingly get some movement in the Terminator was something beyond my skills (bearing in mind I\'m trying to do it with GD rules and regs - so 50mm base).

I\'ve completely redone the pillar - so that it\'s thinner, and what\'s now going to happen is that the Terminator has basically smacked the BL right in the stomach, which has caused the demon to smack into the pillar, which will of course now proceed to topple over and do terribly things to his head.

The good thing is that the basic shape of the falling BL works pretty much just as well for flying backwards, so whilst I\'ve actually gone and done a new one, the legs work just as well.

Or so I hope...

Pictures to come eventually, but at the moment I\'ve got a ton of GS and Milliput drying at the mo\' and that\'s really not very exciting to anybody.

Well, I hope not ;)

@Freak - I tried searching but couldn\'t find it :/

I think it was a GD winner - I also tried finding that IG Vs Tau duel the other day - the one with the guardsman smacking the Tau in the face with his rifle butt to show Liz, but couldn\'t find it :p

Still need to place around with the top bits of the pillar, but I\'m much happier with the overall positioning now!

Wow, thats a pretty violent sceene. I love it.

Perhaps you could make that pillar a statue...IMO having things reach far out of the imaginary boundries of the base sort of defeat the purpose of using a small base( i know you\'re using it in accordance of gd rules) Maybe lose the top 2 pieces that you\'re holding and break up the one thats leaning at the top so it looks like he\'s smashing into somthing thats already broken...Or if you\'re looking for more height you could add a foot to it to make it like a corinthian style greek colum... http://www.surbitonart.co.uk/acatalog/SQ_Corinthian.jpg

I checked the rules on the GW website, and it said 40-50mm slottabase for duels, these were last years rules which are subject to change though

Woo. That second one is absolutely brilliant - really original too. How\'d they do the trail from the bullets - cotton wool?

Good idea, I think I might just do that!

Anyway - small update on the head of the Bloodletter...It\'ll change a little bit, but I quite like the idea of a flying jaw!

I have to admit that I preferred the first scene to he second. But despite that the 2nd one is still great stuff.

I thought the base size allowed was 60mm? but after checking I see it is now 50mm.

I would of thought this would of been more than adequate to convey your scene. I wouldn\'t worry about your scene extending beyond the boundaries of the base either, I can guarantee that it will not be the worst offender. :)

I really like tim\'s idea of the point of impact on the pillar to be amplified by the use of concentric cracks etc.

Great stuff.

Ooooooh I like I like! Now to add to the carnage, make it so the BL\'s eyes are rolling into the back of his head and that you have blood and bone chips all over the mess (which is the green stuff) that is coming off of him and on the pillar itself. Make sure to add a tiny touch of goodies on the hammer too.

Just add a few more spider web lines on the pillar and you\'ll be set my friend!

This is going to look awesome when it\'s done. I can just picture it in my head. *Evil Cackle*

Cheers,
Jake

Another few pictures. I\'m now quite happy with the position of the pillar. It needs a top bit (well two sheared off bits of stone, falling), but the shape - whilst not quite the C folk suggested seems to me to be pretty okay - the interesting thing about the way it is now is that from most angles you can see a fairly dynamic \'movement\' going on (yeah, I know it\'s not really moving ;) ).

I especially like the third picture!
