The David Blaine Game....

Yeah. I think it\'s contagious.

Yeah. I left the US for Canada for that same reason. There is a completely different mindset in Canada. I say leave him alone.
It\'s not like he\'s the only person who has done something like this.

Must be the \"friendly Canadian\" blood in me, but I have no hostility for him nor does it really bother me. In fact Im vaguely curious to see if he can pull it off. That would include if I drove past him every day. Totally irrelevant to me if he wants to try this type of physical endurance test.

And his other \"real\" magic, like the card tricks he does, is great stuff - so I admire his skill in that regard.

More power to him. Live and let live I say.

I think thats part of my problem with this stunt specifically and stage magic in general - there is no attempt by the practitioners (with the exception of the \"Masked Magician\") to advance what they are doing. Most of them are doing the same tricks that were done over 100 years ago, just with updated flashier production values. Hell, even the \"Ice\" stunt that Blaine did was done in the 1960\'s by everybodies favorite curmudgeonly magician turned skeptic James Randi. So how is Blaine advancing the art by doing a stunt that has been performed numerous times before?

IMVHO

I am usually impressed and entertained by David Blaine\'s magic tricks and illusions, however, the only impression this stunt has on me is one of slight distaste.
I fail to see the value of human endeavour in the sole pursuit of the ego. There are thousands of people, all over the globe, suffering similar hardships (and much worse) involuntarily and it is very unlikely that, in a couple of weeks, they will emerge receiving the very best medical attention before returning to a millionaire celebrity lifestyle.
Furthermore he professes to be doing this for his \'art\', yet (as Steelcult points out) this is neither new or ground-breaking in his field. Nor has he tried to draw any contmporary social relevance to his efforts, to qualify it as Art, in the face of it appearing overtly commercial (\'Pay per view\' et al).
BTW, I did really enjoy the game but I have no desire to see anyone harmed in reality ( \'Pop\' magicians included).

(Right....I\'m off to encase myself in greenstuff for a month.....y\'know......for my art :).)

Not for me it doesn\'t....

And I am also really hoping that Derren Brown gets his head blown off when he plays Russian Roulette, live on Brit TV tonight.

I even entered the competition to be the one who pulled the trigger but was eliminated at the last hurdle when the sad git wanted me to provide him with a one minute video of me dancing.

I am sorry, but (IMO) these people are the saddest of sad twats who deserve everything that happens to them.

I am not a totally cynical git...I admire anyone who pushes forward the frontiers of human knowledge at personal risk: test pilots, astronauts, athletes etc. Anyone who treats a white tiger as a stage prop however, has to take full responsibility for their idiotic actions:D

Couldn\'t have said it better myself....

I don\'t like to hear about anyone getting hurt, but........ I hate the circus or anything where animals are made to perform for \'our\' pleasure. Those tigers are beautiful and the only place I\'d like to see them is out in the wild, or in a sanctuary where they are being helped to survive. Not being goaded by some numpty German pratt (no offense meant to other Germans!) into doing something un-natural - why is everyone so shocked about what the tiger did? Afterall the tiger\'s response was totally natural!

EDIT: PS If someone smacked me on the nose with a microphone, I\'d twat him one too.... lol

Tooshy is right about finn17 being right!

When I was involved with the circus business I, and all the performers I knew, felt exactly the same way......we all wanted to bite out of the likes of Siegfried and Roy! lol

Man, I just saw that... How stupid can you get??? Now we can wait on the news of the even stupider (more stupid I mean) idiot who ignores all the \'dont do this at home\' warnings and does blow his brains out... Thanks Derren...

bah, I just read the article. What an idiot, I was hoping it would go off. what really tops it is a quote from the BBC article:
Nail-biting Russian roulette stunt \'better than Blaine\'
I\'ve lost faith in people. From now on, I\'ll be a paranoid delusional hermit

Day 44....

Well, things are going as well as could expected since I decided to live in a clear perspex box, suspended high on a lampost above my local postoffice.

Still no sign of CMON annual, but the postmen give me a friendly wave when they go by.

I\'ve painted quite a few figures, although in hindsight I would\'ve brought more water as I\'m a tad thirsty now and even my paint-encrusted water pot is starting to look good.

However, it\'s been a good time for reflection - heck even my NMM is getting better. I\'m hoping my vigil can end soon - I only brought one blanket and it\' starting to get nippy at night.

Thanks to all the CMON\'ers who have kept me company though these past weeks - the blobs of greenstuff thrown on to the outside of my box are starting to take on weird and wonderful shapes and I really do enjoy our chats....I wonder if it\'s edible ???

Well there he is, apparently he is starting to become ill, and could die if not treated with proper diet when he exits. I bet he\'s going to write a book on it and make millions...

Crikey!

That could be the worlds most boring book if you think about it..

Monday: got up, had a drink. Looked out of window. Skipped breakfast, dinner and lunch. Went back to sleep.

Tuesday: See Monday.

lol

I wondered about that too...
I imagine some kind of system like the Astronaut, where they piss into this kinda suction glass attached to a hose, you could put that down your pants and have some privacy...
Thing is, the astonauts poo inot a plastic bag, and there really isn\'t much privacy about that.
maybe he had a trap door so he can shit on the people throwing stuff at him lol
I\'m disgusting

Maybe he\'ll explain how he passed the time seeing how high he could count. \"Hey! Why\'s this book just page after page of numbers!?\"
