Dark matter was from the beginning introduced as something to make the equations of motion add up for galaxies. The basic idea with dark matter is that it\'s matter (with mass), but it doesn\'t emitt, reflect or absorb radiation of any kind and thus it\'s invisible to us.

Cheers Ritual, so much clearer than the guff I found in wikipedia and other sites!
Am I right in thinking that Dark matter has a much higher mass than its size would indicate? Or am I thinking of something else?

Well, since you can\'t see it you don\'t know how big it is... ;) And the concept of dark matter is far from undisputed among physicists. I wonder if this NASA report will change that? :rolleyes:

I believe I just found a scientific interest! Imagine if an eejit like me managed to figure it out! Oh but it would be a fine thing to embarass the eggheads :twisted:
