The Elven Throne and Green Glitter Paint. Heresy?

In my recently submitted \"Elven Throne & 2 plants\" from Mega Miniatures I probably committed pure CMON heresy. After all if metalic paints are frowned upon, then surely glitter paint must be heresy!

Actually I was wokring on them and on a Rackham \"Cononnes des Titans\" when I was trying to look for a really good way to make marble. (I since changed my mind and went for flesh colored titans.) My FGLS didn\'t have anything I thought was good, so I went to the local Michael\'s craft store. No luck there, but the green and gold glitter paint cought my eye. Temptation set in and I bought them. I only used the green glitter paint because otherwise it would be just too much over the top. Thinning this glop was probably not an option, but the green glitter made this shiney dark green almost poison ivy color for the leaves of the plant and the base leaves of the tree on the throne. I then used normal gold for the innner leaves and the crowns on the plants, and tourquoise for the gems.

In the end I have to admit my heresy, but sometimes you have to be a heretic. it is, I think an option when you want to jump the borders of \"realism\" and get an aspect of pure magic in your minis.

Well, I disagree that metallics are frowned upon. I think there is a serious reemergence of it lately.

I\'ll bet the glittery green looks much better in real life, photographing probably cannot do it justice.

I personnally perfer metallics. As for glittery paints, to each their own. Do you like them. The one thing is that the picture is going to hurt your score.

Opulant was the word that poped to mind when I saw your \"heretical\" work. Honestly, I must say that the use of glitter is quite original. But, if this isn\'t quite \"over the top\" I\'d like to see what you think is.

Coloured metallics are not a new thing in fact I still have my original citadel colour metallic paint set and that contains metallic green/purple and blue as well as the standard colours.
I know other manufactures do the same and when used can look very effective, the problem is in the photography as you have found out still your work looks nice and I am a metallic fan.
I have in fact painted a Chaos Land Raider using metallic green and it looks ok IMO.
Keep on experimenting I like what you are doing.
