Saw the first half thought it was utter crap. Slow and very boring.

When Terry Pratchett was being interviewed about this he said that he imagines each profession gravitating towards the style that epitomises them best (or words to that effect). That gives a mix of Victorian and medieval influences depending on the characters. As for the City itself - I expect that to be a heady mix of influences bearing in mind its atitude towards invaders/investors.

It wasn\'t bad. The best bit to my mind was when Hex gave Death his \'Dear Hogfather\' Hogswatch list. Marvellous. The first part was certainly too slow, but the second half was a big improvement. However, why choose one of his more average books? Silly silly festive silliness! Jingo would be a great one, as would the one about the postal service. True genius. Still, let\'s hope they make a couple more. Some of the humour went by the wayside, but I reckon the Arch-chancellor was a real winner. It was good to see Nobby Nobbs as well, though he didn\'t have his manky dog-end hanging from his lips

Watched it and enjoyed it.
As most people have said the first half was a little slow, but the second half worked far better with more aspects of Pratchetts humour coming through.

Even my wife who\'s only read a couple of Pratchett\'s books laughed at some of the more sidelong humour. Especially the \"Anthill Inside\" sticker on HEX. Can\'t believe that despite working in IT I missed that joke in the book.

Ian Richardson\'s voice was a good choice for DEATH but wasn\'t made quite effective enough.

I reread the book on my coach trek to Poland (proabably my fifth reading of it) and this was the first time I spotted the joke too. Soul Music is probably my favourite for rereading and spotting references that I\'d never got before - especially around the band names.

I would scream with joy. I seriously love this book.

Good to be reminded too. Being German I was not able to watch it of course, but thanks to teh intarweb I\'m working on it.

I watched it, but wasn\'t keen on it. I reckon its just due to the fact im not keen on Terry P\'s style of writing, iv tried reading his books but never got into them at all. Though i did enjoy a few of the graphic novel versions.

It got a thumbs down from me. I was really looking forward to it - not \'cos it was Pratchett, just \'cos I like this sort of stuff.

I found the first part hard work It was overly long and just boring. Mind you, I\'m not a Pratchett fan - tried reading one of his books (again, I was really looking forward to it) and it just did nothing for me. We put the second part on TV but I was bimbling around the house getting ready for Christmas and found it easier to get on with it as I moved around the house tidying up. I don\'t think I could have sat down to watch it properly

To end on a positive note, I did absolutely love the hogs that pulled the sleigh! They were gorgeous

I finished watching this online - it had some good bits but was generally a bit of a let down. This ma be because I\'ve just reread the book so may have been expecting too much. My main criticisms would be around the voices (Auditors, Te-a-tim-e and Death). Although with Death there is no way they could ever get that perfect as the voice needs to be felt rather than heard. Also, the whole thing didn\'t seem to know who it was pitched at - Pratchett diehards or newbies so you find some bits overexplained and others skipped.

However, I did like Susan and thought that Joss Ackland was perfect as Ridcully. Overall, an entertaining diversion but I think that Discworld belongs in books where the humour and vision of Pratchett can be interpreted fully.
