The Postman

Nah. It existed before Waterworld and that was made prior to The Postman. Over-exposure could have been a major factor, as could the Madonna thing as you mention, hard to judge.

Dennis Hopper should never work again, however.
Well I wouldn\'t go that far :D I thought he did well in Catchfire and he had to redeem himself in my eyes from Blue Velvet, which really took work lemme tell ya! But he has given quite a few dodgy performances over the years where he\'s just very flat, even though he looks like he\'s trying to do better. And let\'s not sweep Super Mario Bros. under the table lol

But Battlefield Earth I actually go out of my way to tell people not to see it.
Ditto. Hard to find a big-budget film quite that dreadful (although there are plenty of low-budget films that are worse... lots worse... because they don\'t have redeeming features like one or two good actors, some decent effects).

Postman was not a total disaster - I didn\'t hate it as much as the reviewers, but I wasn\'t excited about it either.
I lean towards - not good on this one.
I liked waterworld.

On Dennis Hopper - I remember reading an interview with him on Super Mario Bros. He said sometimes you just need to know you have the money to buy shoes for your kids.
(I\'m paraphrasing it was a long time ago)

I remember enjoying the costner film Fandango as well - but as I\'ve never met anyone else that\'s seen it I\'m never sure how it rates.

any movie with him in it is god awful
Checking his page on IMDb it\'s pretty sad just how many pieces of shlock he\'s been in, including Ticker, which has my vote as one of the worst films of all time (bottom 50 without breaking a sweat).

But for balance, I like Speed and I thought Red Rock West was interesting. Plus of course he\'s in Easy Rider, Rebel Without A Cause, Hang \'Em High, Giant and Rumble Fish.

That\'s because I think my brain did a creditable job of scouring out the room that memory was kept in so I wouldn\'t have to recall it!

I can actually say I\'ve never seen Super Mario Bros.

I think he has been in decent roles however his supporting casts have never really been that decent. Even the TV series he has been in, he was the only \"known\" actor for the most part

I felt that way about Waterworld. I actually kinda liked it. The backstory was somewhat believable - polar ice caps melted, oceans rose. people live on floating cityies.

Reviewers panned it.

i quite enjoyed it too. nothing special. i though hopper was good too. deliberately (hopefully) overacting to become some sort of pantomime baddy!

havent seen postman....yet
