The Round Robin Miniature Idea

Well, I am not throwing my hat in the painting ring, but I do have a suggestion for the whole deciding on what a part is.

Why don\'t you pick a mini and then before the painting starts decide how many parts there are. That way you will also know how many painters you will need.

If you do it like this you could also decide who gets to paint which part and then send it round so that the deepest parts are painted first.

P.S. Think this is a wicked idea and would love to see WIP shots as well as the finished model

I really don\'t mind either way about the mini as long as I receive it in one peice ;).

But yeah, Gipsy, just buy a mini, count how may areas there are (or not), and send it somewhere. Need adresses yet ?

I\'m not a very frequent poster, but I think this is a great idea, and would love to participate!:bouncy:

That sounds like fun. I\'m not a great painter and would understand if you would not want me to participate, but I would gladly do something to the poor mini ;)

Alrighty, I went and bought our miniature. Click HERE to take a look at it. It looks way better in real life (sewiously). :)

Count me in.
As its Gypsy\'s idea how about you decide where the mini is split into areas and from the number you have select the same number of painters.Allocate each painter a part of the mini and write up a list to send with the mini so each painter knows where to send it next.Returning to you at the end ,maybe.
WIP shots are a definate.

I\'ve been counting...

So far I seen about 17 people interested here. It breaks down like this:

From the United Kingdom:

Avicenna
Dragonsreach
finn17 (?) -really didn\'t say if he wanted in or not
JKaen
Klute
t_haye2
tooshy

from United States:

Duende
Orchid_Noir
supervike
TAB Studio
torifile

from Germany:

Gypsy
Mosch

from Russia:

Margo

from Australia:

Trevor

and from parts unknown:

U4-Welcome

Should it be started in Europe, then to Australia or America? And what\'sd the last person to do with it? back to Gypsy?

:D This sure is getting complicated for what seemed a simple idea, huh?

Maybe we make a \"postage pot\" so the abroad shipping is not a burden for one person. You can send me the money :D

Really though, someone could coordinate a fund say 5 bucks each and every body could print a label from it.Maybe through a paypal account?

Cool - he looks like he\'s got lots of little bits and pieces for people to paint :) Nice choice Gypsy :D

i\'m not much of a painter, but i\'d like to help paint it if i could. i know i\'m new, but i\'ve learned a lot since i came here and if i was only doing a teeny tiny bit, i couldn\'t mess it up too bad.lol
Can i play? Can i play?
Oh, and i really liked the one model for each country idea... keep the postage down and paint more minis.

Hey... there\'s an idea. How about a mini going around to the junoir members who want to paint? We might even give the top 100 a run for their money!
Good idea? Bad idea? Not to make it a competition... just to give the lower-on-the-totempole-ers a chance to play if there is limited parts, or a fear of us messing up a good mini.

I\'ll donate a mini if you want to have a couple going round at the same time.

I have heaps of stuff. I\'ll also be in the UK at the end of August, so that could help for receiving or passing it on... (not to mention I can go through my boxes of unpainted stuff to see if I have anything nice to donate).

Who\'re you calling a part unknown ? lol
I\'m a French Master !

Well, ok, I\'m just a French.

Corollary : one mini a country, so far, would let some people paint minis on their own - which is not exactly a new experience, is it ?

Edit : As for the international shipping, christ, if it\'s so much of a problem I can be the last, for instance, \"european link\" and take care of it. I mean, I know I can spare 20 euros once in a lifetime... (we spend hundreds on minis we never paint and now we can\'t pay for shipping ?)

A fund? Please, let\'s not make this any more complicated by trying to even out the money amount everyone pays. You wanna take part you have to pay the costs, so someone will have to bite the bullet and pay shipment over the great pond (thanks for volunteering, U4).

I also don\'t like the idea of \"We\'re only sending it to people who are good at painting\". That\'s discriminating, we\'re doing this for fun, not to score a 9.3 here afterwards. Of course not everyone will get a chance at slapping paint at this miniature but if it works out we can do it again until everyone gets bored and people start saying \"No, don\'t send it to me! I already have four other RRMs(Round Robin Miniatures) lying around here!\" :D

Right, I haven\'t unpacked it yet but I\'ll sit down today and work on it. And try counting the parts which is more difficult that I thought it would be.

May make sense to have an america+australia mini and then a europe mini, if for no other reason that we will run out of areas i think on one mini

I was wondering how you\'d go about that part ; I mean, you could count x different areas, but someone else could be like \"hm, these overlapping armor plates are just one area to me\" and end up with less, or more, areas.

I was thinking that you could just get a list of those who\'re in (Duende took care of this) and simply send it away with the instruction to be reasonable and paint only one area. When it\'s done, it\'s done, and it\'s sent back to you. If everyone couldn\'t take part, well, tough, but it\'ll give even more reason to run other RRMs, right ?

It just sounds so much more simple... then again, we aren\'t going to discuss this forever, so decide what you\'re going to do and how, and let it fly ! :D

I think it should be done by \"colours\" each person does one colour.

Unless of course we want a \"Harlequin\" style mini...

lol

Actually I have some Harlequins, they would be pretty good...

Oooops Sorry I may have mislead everybody on here.
I like the idea but would prefer that it was for Up-and-Coming painters and not a gobby old git like me! :D
So while I will support it and if asked make comments I\'d prefer to be a spectator on this.
Good luck Gypsy don\'t let an old cynic like Finn17 put you off.:flip::flip::D
