the wet nurse

I just dont get wanting to paint naked women's genitals, a penis looking monster that we have now found out drains and or rape's women. It all boils down to personal preference of course. Id rather paint my nails than this (Cassar and Torn blue sky, just dont ok!)

so if KD is now your "hero" Aulbath does that mean that they are going to lose? :p seeing as KD wants a world where hero's lose

Also just wondering, has anyone ever had a nightmare featuring a phallic, multi-breasted, penis tenticle, woman "harvesting"(yeah right) beast of late? If you have i would certainly say it may be time to see a shrink :p

I have kids, I don't think I would ever want this kind of thing around for them to see... I have to put up with this crap day in day in the book store if you wander into the wrong isle :p I don't need it in my home. I don't really get it and it's just kinda tacky.

It still strikes me as odd that violence is cool but something like this has people freak out

For me, it's not as much the theme as it is the ridiculous degree to which it's been taken. I'm not keen on hyper violence, either. I think this sculpt just tries too hard and comes off looking stupid. If he'd stopped a while back (hard to say where,) he could well have created something that I might have found repellent yet strangely appealing. Giger's a great example; he never goes to this kind of extreme (that I've seen, at any rate,) and his works are usually strange, surreal, and disturbingly sensual at the same time. Then, as he put it in an interview once, he paints something covered in penises just to poke fun at everyone, and that's when I roll my eyes and move to the next picture.

I agree with some previous posts that the concept actually does have merit. I kind of agree; that's why I enjoy Alien so much (just the first two movies, and none of the books or comics, mind) because it's sometimes fun to play on our insecurities and create something that we are so helpless against. But this is simply too much, and almost comes off as a joke on itself.

Well... Giger is exactly a great example; this is NOT safe for work: http://lcart3.narod.ru/image/fantasy/giger/la/hr_giger_landscape_XX.jpg

I think it's called Landscape or XX or Landscape XX, not exactly sure.

None of them jokes, in my book.

I still think this thing is closer to the facehugger than a joke. It's covered in tits so it can nurture many beasties, as I have said before - pigs and what not have more than a pair of boobs - and from what we can see, the younglings have enough power to cling to the tits. The face hugger had this penis-vagina for a mouth and came out of a vagina-egg - that thing exploding out of your stomach is basically a penis with teeth... I think they did for back then what KINGDOM DEATH did for today.

Also the Nurse has just one penis-tentacle, it's quite unlike the tentacle porn beasts with a massive amount of rapetacles going everywhere. Maybe a few tits less, but still no joke (especially since it somehow manages to not "force" the ladies to do their thing, it doesn't use it's hands to fixate them or hold them down... which sets it apart from "demon beast rape" a bit).

I see a world of difference between suggestive and explicit. Alien was suggestive, the Wet Nurse is explicit. Those works of Giger you posted are good examples of when I roll my eyes, think "come on, are you serious?" and turn the page, because I think he's just being stupid.

It's clear from the sculpts, though, that the women in the scene are not willing participants: the one whose wrists are visible is wearing manacles, and one is described by the sculptor as "horrified," so there's obviously coercion and trauma; people don't have to be beaten or restrained to be enslaved.

Which would tie in with the nightmare scenario he's actually going for. For all intent and purpose, id say he's nailed it judging from the largely disconcerted replies, so hats off to him.

Yeah, well, I still think it's crap. ;)
It's amazing what the bottom line for a well balanced argument is lol!

It's not as if this was ever going to be an objective discussion. I think the only thing we can all agree on is how many tentacles this thing has. I fully expected opinions to differ but not this much!

Oddly, my initial disgust at it has diminished to a general sort of eye-rolling contempt at its blatantness and lazy imagery. Maybe I'm desensitized already???

Probably happened the moment your knowledge of Japanese porn was expanded. Lets face it, those guys make this thing look like the tooth fairy.

It seems strange that it's being assumed by some that those liable to offend are more likely to do so after exposure to graphic imagery. Aren't we forgetting that there are those that are liable to offend, who upon seeing the graphic outcome of what they may be contemplating are abhorred and choose to abstain from that act and in some cases seek help. Everything is a balance, famine war and pestilence (are generally considered bad) sees the birth of charities (generally seen as a good thing). Too much 'faith' in the 'goodness of man' leads to naivety and those who will exploit that, also known as con artists.

The important thing in this case is the fact people still care enough to discuss this in a rational way. The day people stop caring is the day we all go to he'll in a hand basket.

A lil bit highbrow for one of my responses but you get the gist lol

There are always going to be exceptions; the point is what is the general trend?

That was my exact response as well; I wouldn't dignify this turd by being offended.

It's all got to boil down to something! :)
