How bad are you hurt Lost..? Maybe get in touch with your inner basing demon and refine your basing skills if you can't paint . Or sculpting or crochet maybe . You are never hurt too much to do some hobby

Can't really walk too well, and I can't really use my left hand that well, but I should be able to do something :)

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and do what you can in the hobby to keep your mind busy. I get more and more paranoid every ime I take a motorcycle trip. The close calls keep increasing as more people text and drive.

So true... I think most people are oblivious in general when they're in their cars...

I'm pretty much healed up from my accident, and I'm getting back at the models. So without further ado, I have some pictures of the diorama I'm doing for ReaperCon in October.

So this is a very basic set up of my diorama. I like the set up so far, but I do need help with some ideas on how to make the diorama more 3D. In my opinion, it looks kinda flat.
A lot of the details are unfinished (like the tower and the clay runway), but any suggestions would be super helpful. Also, I was going to use 9 fuel drums.. is that too many? Thanks in advance :)

It's good to be back!!

Well, I didn't realize that it's been over 2 weeks since I posted anything... no comments either.. I guess my diorama is that awesome lol... anyways some updates on the details of the diorama :glasses-nerdy:

This is one of the barriers that the ork mek is going to be behind... notice the shrapnel stuck in the tank treads on the right from exploding ork teck lol (still needs some work) Click on the pic to see a bigger version.

Here's a work bench for one of my grot techs

Here are some fuel drums that will be scattered about the diorama

And finally, I made some bolts to scatter around one of the grot tech's work areas.

That's it for now... any comments and suggestions would be great! Thanks for your time! :bye:

Zab, that's a really good tip... I feel like there might be too much stuff towards the back of the diorama.. the front is really only going to have the rockets blasting off... we'll see. It is going to be a REALLY busy diorama... hopefully it's not a bad thing for a competition, but if it is, meh..I'm doing it more for my own amusement/enjoyment.

Thanks BAM as well :)

Sometimes I really kick my self in the arse when I don't look through all my parts for stuff... I found a hull piece to an ork truck and thought it would work better as the workbench for my grot tech, so I re-built it... here's what I came up with...

For the most part, it's the same, however I was able to add bullet holes (kinda hard to tell). I think it adds to the story of the diorama and the ork personality, since they reuse a lot of salvaged stuff. (You can click on the pic to see a larger version) Thanks for your time :) Comments always welcome!

You know what? Go for a forced contrast when you paint it - make sure the areas where you want the eye to look at are a bit lighter and warmer than the rest ;) It's a dirty little trick, but it works!

So if went with a brighter yellow-green skin tone for the orks, (kinda like BAM's) it would make them stand out more, thereby attracting the eyes towards them instead of the eyes trying to focus on everything at once. Hopefully I can start painting by the end of June... I have 3 months to paint all these different elements and a lot of stuff isn't even built yet. Hopefully I'll make it!

The scene is looking good, lots of great ork-y details on there. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to a LAMS meeting at some point so I can see it in person!

Cool scene. Looks like a lot of fun to do all that crazy ork construction!

Definitely fun, but I'm kinda overwhelmed... I was supposed to have everything built and ready for painting by the end of June, but I'm almost back to square one with the base... for the life of me I can't figure out how to make it look less flat.

Take this forgeworld diorama for example... it literally has a flat runway on it, but at the same time the entire piece looks 3D wherever you look...

I'm trying to make my ork piece look like this, but it seems completely flat to me. I'm thinking of taking out my rocket shaped fuel tank, or at least making it smaller, but at the same time, I really want to leave it cause I think it adds to the ironic humor of orks. However, if I do take it out, it would allow me to make the base smaller and thus, with less free space, the entire diorama would look less flat.

At this point I could use some of those super instructive and helpful tips CMON is known for :) Really, any suggestions would help. Thanks!
