I chanced upon the Pegaso site yesterday and, whilst perusing their excellent erange of minis, stumbled across this amazing chess set:

My guess is that these were not originally thought up at a sober moment. Then some nut says \"Is this good or what?\" and the next thing you know they are trying to sell them online for more than what they\'re worth.

Thats 32 miniatures, 32 wooden bases you are getting and a chessboard.

For getting the chessboard etc, that still only works out at about 3GBP or $5 a mini. I reckon that is pretty cheap!

What the....how\'d I miss that? I guess I was so engrossed in the different characters, I just assumed the pawns would be generic pieces and the characters each represented the higher \'officers\'.

By player, if you mean someone who gets beat by the simplest of chess programs, then yes I am a player...I can beat everyone in my family though!!

The crusaders are nice, but why aren\'t the bishops actually bishops? A knight on foot as opposed to a mounted knight is a poor choice in my opinion.

More on topic, that set\'s pretty cool. Definitely not the conservative sheesham-I-imported-this-from-Italy kinda thing, but unique. Kinda reminds me of super-deformed characters from Japan. I\'m not a big fan of that kind of stuff myself, but it\'s interesting.

Because the english language makes them bishopes and pegaso is italian. In french the translation for the bishop would be \" the fool\" or somthing like that ( well you know the guy who entertains the king and all ). so I asume italians don\'t use bishop either.
Oh and Cool chess set Love those gauls ( wada ya mean I\'m biased ???)
