Things that scare you...

Hey all,
I just had a weird feeling today.
does anyone ever see something and kinda get nervous and freak out inside? like for me, it\'s footballs and soccer balls. every time i see someone at school bouncing one around (doesn\'t matter where) i tense up. this is probably because people of the stupid kind have a tendency to throw them at me, or to be more specific, at my face. i think it\'s a programmed response. but does anyone else get this feeling? it\'s just weird and i want to know if it happens to anyone else.

The face at the window. The feeling that when I open or go to close curtains/blinds, they will be someone there staring at me. And for this reason I don\'t close mine.

I\'m right there with you on that one. Or Ghosts. I keep a pillow over my head at night so I won\'t see ghosts

I worry that as I\'m reading the forums, someone who shouldn\'t will see matty1001\'s NSFW signature over my shoulder and I get pulled in front of HR and hauled out the door.:cry:

Can\'t say anything really scares me anymore.

Not keen on Rats..Came face to face with one in the underfloor vault of a computer room.
Not happy about the idea of Potholing (Spelunking).
Don\'t like heights where I can\'t control my environment. I\'m OK up ladders and the like, fine in Aircraft, climbing rocks & abseiling but rollercoasters and cable cars I\'m not comfortable with.

I\'m fine with heights if there\'s no way I\'m going to fall off, or at least I feel like I won\'t. Rollercoasters and cable cars are fine for me. The height just makes me a little nervous; but I can\'t go up a ladder.

The face at the window thing doesn\'t really scare me anymore; but when I was a kid I happened to look out the window and someone popped up outside wearing a devil mask (it was another kid from my school). That freaked me out and I got sent to my room for the noise I made...go figure.

Heights not to much of a problem unless it is shaky scaffolding.

My big thing is reptiles can not stand them. Snakes a summarily executed on the spot do not trust them or like them.

now that\'ll take the hair right off your chest.
You just don\'t understand

@ Lizcam - be very afraid... I am the face at your window

Now time for me to admit that I am a total wuss when it comes to spiders - seeing a spider makes me freeze and if the bugger starts moving about I want to be sick.

I fear, FEAR  nothing else, but it can have the most debilitating effect on ones life.
Like with most fears, facing it, relaxing ones body, breathing slowely and letting time pass, whilst in the situation helps :D

NerdyOgre254, it sounds like you are feeling unable to control the football environment and that is whats causing the fear, its quite normal, just dont let it rule your life, as these things sneak up on one if we dont face them.
I spent from 17 to now 47 doing martial arts in the vain hope it would make me feel more confident, it didn\'t work. Yes I could batter most idiots that try to deprive me of my freedom, and space, but its not the way to go.
Being able to let go in these situations is key.
Good luck, and dont allow anyone to disrupt your space :D
