You guys have ruined Oakenshield for me. (I won't be able to not see a klingon in this movie ever again)
Honestly...I've never been able to finish reading any of Tolkiens works (I lose interest in the constant 'minute' details), but Thorin here is the only one who really stands out as a 'small human' while perusing through production stills. Everybody else (whether they resemble their literary namesake or not) seem to be in the same vein as John Rhys-Davies from the previous trilogy.
(lastly, could someone please explain why he's holding an Elfish blade. . . .)
In the Hobbit he and Gandalf both got Elven blades from the Trolls that turned to stone. Orcrist and Glamdring, I think I spelled those correctly. Thorin, IIRC, carried Orcrist.
Sad that I know that, and what the names meant...
