lol! The users manual is your friend! If you don't have one, you can look it up online.
A lot of cameras have a focus lock. If you point it at your subject and slightly depress the button like you are going to take a picture but don't press it all the way. Usually you can see the crosshairs (don't know what else to call 'em lol!) move slightly. You can specifically direct that focus on the wolf's head for example and that lock will keep it there even if you move the camera (within reason of course, if you move it more than a few centimeters it won't work).
I think in my Necron thread, I have a photo where I used that feature - I used the focus lock on one dude but moved the camera enough to get some others into the field. The background guys are out of focus but the main dude is off center yet perfectly in focus. That feature comes in really handy shooting minis. I use it every picture I take even if I don't have other things in the field.
Anyway, you'll get the hang of it. It took me awhile to get mine down but it's coming right along. Unfortunately, it still throws me a curve ball now and then.
