lol! The users manual is your friend! If you don't have one, you can look it up online.

A lot of cameras have a focus lock. If you point it at your subject and slightly depress the button like you are going to take a picture but don't press it all the way. Usually you can see the crosshairs (don't know what else to call 'em lol!) move slightly. You can specifically direct that focus on the wolf's head for example and that lock will keep it there even if you move the camera (within reason of course, if you move it more than a few centimeters it won't work).

I think in my Necron thread, I have a photo where I used that feature - I used the focus lock on one dude but moved the camera enough to get some others into the field. The background guys are out of focus but the main dude is off center yet perfectly in focus. That feature comes in really handy shooting minis. I use it every picture I take even if I don't have other things in the field.

Anyway, you'll get the hang of it. It took me awhile to get mine down but it's coming right along. Unfortunately, it still throws me a curve ball now and then. ;)

For the camera, the easy trick is to take pics of you models using the shutter speed to manage the 'brightness' of the photos, and since you have a tripod, you can easily use the delayed function on about 2 seconds. Y'know the mode to take awkward self vacation pics that only show your bum as you're running to get into position... :D

Ok well here are the pics, Kath check out that backpack, and that's with liquid green stuff "washes" to try and fill up the imperfections. FU finecast!

Wow! Even the liquid green stuff didn't help. Although, hindsight being 20/20 it probably would have been better to put it on full strength then try the water smoothing trick with it.

But, despite that they do look great!

That reminds me, yesterday I stopped by the hobby store we have out here. The place is pretty big but their prices are high. Plus they have a very slow inventory turn-over. They've got two full pegboards of Ral-Partha miniatures that I swear are from the 80's. lol! Anyway because of that slow turnover, if I'm looking for something OOP, I can usually find it there. I just picked up the metal version of Canis Wolfborn so that way I don't have to jack with the failcast. lol! Thought of you though when I found it. ;)

That was the last I deal with failcast, it's too bad, i REALLY wanted those mangler squigs. Ever since i played Warhammer Online ive been infatuated with squigs and squig herders.

My local shop is like that as well, Just a buttload of ral partha minis, even confrontation stuff (i picked it clean of anything worth it!) but unfortunately, their metal stock is non-existant. I was hoping to get a techmarine this past weeked for my latest commission, and no go. Nothing on ebay for the one the customer wants, now I have to order from GW *shudder* Good find on Canis, too bad his wolf is a gigantic chihuahua ;)

Nah, with it's oddly shaped tail it looks more like an angry squirrel!

At least GW got the new Thunderwolf Cavalry and Fenrisian Wolf models to look like wolves and not rabid rodents...
