It does a great job of moving your eyes up the piece with how they are all chasing him. It actually feels desperate. That new addition of the zombie flying apart is a really nice idea too. Where'd the idea for this piece come from?

Thanks Diggs, Kbear, WGS, Gandalf and Scherdy

It's just a bit of cut up blister packet my super glue came in Gandalf. Being plastic the zombie weighs hardly anything. I'm adding some white glue to it in layers to help give it a 3D effect (which will hopefully also make it stronger) and then I'll see how it looks.

WGS you're completely right but that's out of my skill set I'm afraid. I need some more sculpting practice before I try something that fiddly. I'm going to have to stick to the blood this time around.

@ Scherdy not really sure to be honest! I think I was looking at the Archaon mini when the End times stuff came out and I remember thinking it looked like War from Darksiders. A quick google later and I could see the resemblance was uncanny. I love that game and character so I wondered if I could convert myself one. The base has evolved from a picture on the Internet of a siloetted War attacking a legion of undead and insperation from 10 Balls brilliant green knight.

While the 'blood' is setting I've made a start on Ruin. Still very early at the mo. It looks like I sanded off quite a bit of detail on the back leg when I filled the original chaos symbol and I'm going to have to paint that in myself. Otherwise I think he's coming along. Any tips for painting horse hair?

as for horse hair. the way i've painted hair before on a flat surface is sucessive fast short thin lines, but use 5-6 tints/shades of your base colour so you create the illusion of depth.

Use more tints in the high spots simulate light shining on the hair, use more dark shades in the shadow areas to create nice constrast. then its using glazes to tighten up the contrast. Although horses have really short hair so might be worth just doing smooth painting but putting hair in selected hairs that are focal points, such as the face?

Cool thanks Epic. The layering is kind of what I'm trying to do at the moment. Tons of tiny lines which I'll glaze over and then correct the highs and lows.

WGS that would be awesome. Thanks you

The effect so far. More will obviously be added to integrate it into the legs when they are painted. I think I'll add some more at the leg end as well to bulk it up View attachment 40870View attachment 40871

BLOOOOOOOOOOOD!!! I'm not 100% convinced at the moment. I think I'll wait until it's painted before I make a decision.

Really quickly as I'm working and I've just ducked into the office. I just checked my gallery entry and I noticed it had a s**t ton of new votes. Then I saw it on the best submissions in the last 7 days page. Bloody hell thank you all so much for voting!! as I've said before if anybody every finds themselves in West London PPP into my pub and the beers are on me

The view from the top looks pretty good. The whole scene is amazing and it looks pretty damn epic. We can not wait until it's done ... brutally spectacular diorama. Nearly it says about the shoot with a scenic background ... dark clouds, mist ... something ... (After completing and paint, of course:) )
