Cheers Arch, cheers Skel, I hope he does and even if he doesn't I'm enjoying myself:brushwave:

little bit more done on my break. Highlighted the beard and started constructing the room. I'm thinking of doing the floor in balsa wood and then maybe faded, peeling wallpaper but I'm not decided yet, thoughts? View attachment 44012

Ok floorboards are done and I'm pretty happy. For wallpaper I was thinking of adding a little texture, any ideas if kitchen towel would work? Will it take paint or just turn into a bit wet blob?

It'll probably turn into a wet mush. But you could try experimenting with using diluted PVA to stick it on and give it some "rigidity". The floorboards are perfect.

If you water the PVA down and paper it as if you were wallpapering it should work, advise doing a sample go on a piece of scrap though

Exactly what I did Arch and WGS. the paper towel actually yielded a very interesting effect when soaked in superglue thin. Not something I'd use on the walls but it would be perfect for a textured carpet or rug. Will definitely use it in the future.

I ended up using packing paint cut into rolls to give a more realistic look. Pretty happy but the proof will be in the painting.

Thanks john and Ark this little guy has been a blast to paint and I'm really trying to push myself with regards to my painting and environments.

S**t me Mally I had no idea dolls house paper was a thing! To late for this project but I'll keep it mind for the next.

Thanks Zab and Canny. I love basing as well, maybe more than the painting. There's something so very satisfying about constructing tiny little worlds and getting a story across via the environment. So much fun.

yep Kbear balsa wood bricks. I liked the texture and the fact that I can alter the wide of each brick. I'm Reasoning that my dwarf lives in a bit of a run down area and I'm trying to portray that in the facarde itself

GGotta tell ya,it amazes me how you guys ,and expert modeller know great deal of architecture and building things to get that knowledge on a small scale is fanrastik, impressive and down right cool as hell.

Thanks for the encouragement Maenus.

Cheers Lee, cheers John boy, that's quite a compliment coming from someone of you caliber. I'm pretty far from an expert and any knowledge of architectural design comes 100% from google research and transferring it into 28mm luck :good::good: I cut another 200 bricks this so that's the tedious bit done. I'm hoping to get them glued tonight and maybe the basecoat down. Wanna wind this one up and get back to War

That's it for tonight. I'm trying to push the colour and contrast of the bricks hopefully this will tie them in with the NMM gold.

Anybody got any ideas on how to do the mortar? I'm thinking of maybe thin plaster, wash it into the gaps, then wipie off the excess. No clue if it will work though.

C&C welcome

What would be perfect is a cheap to tube of gap filler from the hardware store ,I use a tube thats $2 for 800ml water soluble. Perfect because it's thicker and not as sloppy as plaster but still water clean up. I use it for basing but it would work in this situation too.

Use an old bank card squish it into the gaps then wipe of the excess, then with a wet sponge gently wipe any remained away from top of bricks the harder you push the deeper the mortar will be. May need a wet rag to spot clean the brick too just incase.

Just one option no worries if yo don't go that route. Looking awesome. All the best!
