Shhhhhhhhh I'm at work and should t really be on the Internet :)

Thanks Dave and Maenas. The ogre progresses and I've got loads of ideas for him. I'm now thinking that I'll place the ogre at a 90 degree angle the base extension. Looking down at a glowing magical weapon by the tree. The idea being the area holds significance to the Ogre, maybe a long vanquished honourable foe? I'm thinking dark and broody base colours with green OSL from the weapon. (Note he gravestone was from an earlier idea and won't be included)

back to the Paul Ponner Ogre. I'm painting the back and the pig is a nightmare! Upside down it just doesn't read as a pig! I think I may need to go more cartoony?

Nice positioning on the base mate, really tells a story well. So the pig is being a pig to paint ? I like what you've done so far, if it doesn't read as a pig upside down could cause a point of interest as people discover what it is on closer examination. As for not being on the internet as your at work your secrets safe with us !

Ugh, you talk about your struggles but everything turns to gold! I love the addition of the tree and think you're definitely onto something with the mystical glowing artifact.
For the pig, I assume you mean more... pink? when you say cartoony? I do think that will help it read as piggy, but I wouldn't want you to mar the absolutely stunning work you've done. Maybe tone down the blue/green tones a touch, but, as WGS said, leaving it as a bit of an easter egg is also a strong move.

For the pig you may want to mock up white hair texture on it to sell it as a pig. We usually think of pigs being pink, but they are usually more white due to the hair..

i'm in agreement with kretcher and saint here. pigs, even newborn ones, have very coarse hair so you will be able to see it even at that size andsome blue glazes will help the skin out also.
if the pig gives you too much grief move onto another area for a bit. sometimes the solution comes to you if you leave it alone for a while

I think your getting "painting hypnosis" I feel it looks fine as is ...it looks like a baby pig to me .....yep ...definitely does!!! Your becoming to fixated on that bit....and there's no reason to it looks fantastic!!! Trust me on this tip Timmy its a 110% fine looking piggy!!! ;)

Yep, looks like a pig to me. Something about the eye/ear may be a little off and un-pig-like, but I can't fault the paintjob.

I'm not sure what that dragon-ogre thing is, but he's scary as hell, and the axe you made for him is wicked. :)

Thanks guys. Yeah I was definitely getting hung up on the pig! Nice idea about painting hair but he's only slightly larger than my thumbnail I really don't have the balls to try and paint texture that small (I'm no Joce)

i have gone back in a glazed some more pink over the little fella and I much prefer the results. Purple added to the armour shadows to help tie it in with the rest of diorama and I've started the fur.

The Dragon Ogre's axe is finished and he's primed but I haven't taken any photos yet. I'll take some photos when I can.

My home internet is currently down because my internet provider (BT) is shit. As a result I'm posting from work again whilst pretending to be doing something important on the computer SHHHHHHHHHHHH!

So, you had another visit of Paul, did you? :laugh: This vignette is getting better and better with each update you post. The piggy does look very recognaisable to me. The big new figure you've build looks interesting too. I'm very curious to see what colours this one will be getting?

Dave - I may need your expertise, what would be the best way and material to construct the bear trap? Nothing I've attempted to far has looked any good!

thanks Ten, I'm sure the Ogre is a vegetarian and mealy transporting the pig to a new and better life.....:tremble!::knife::pig::skeleton::ghost::shut-mouth:

Cheers Gino, the shaggoth will be a bit of a experiment in OSL. I'd like to try and paint a dark and mood scene. With extreme green light from a magical hammer. That's what I'd like to do, whether I can or not remains to be seen!

What size does it need to be ? two ways spring to mind, plasticard cut out the basic shape then warm the card with a hairdryer and bend round a pen or suitable cylinder of the right diameter. Or green stuff the shape directly on to the cylinder and peel off when dry. Any problems message me on facebook mate

Hi Darthmarsh,

OSL is something I really want to learn too, but still struggling with; a lot! I've only tried it once so far, so I guess that it needs practise. Like most thing considering miniature painting! Already looking forward how you will tackle this technique.
