Auto racing is actually my sport of preference. Not so much F1 or Nascar, though. As I have a variety of racing venues nearby, I prefer to watch it in person. I\'m particularly fond of short track openwheeled little rocketslol THat\'s one reason I\'m rarely around here on weekends - off getting my methanol fume fix :flame:

As for curling... uh... a bunch of Canadians were standing around one winter, drinking and bored. They decided that gluing handles on rocks and chasing them with brooms and squeeges sounded like fun.... Did I mention they were bored.... and had been drinking.

Curling is multi-participant shuffleboard on ice.
It\'s a demonstration of strength (those rocks are about 20 kilos), balance (you try sweeping in front of one while trying to stay ahead of it on the ice at anywhere from 4 to 10 kph), control and accuracy (if it goes too far, it\'s no good -- if it doesn\'t go far enough, it\'s no good, and sometimes you have to place them as blockers for the good scoring rocks).
Strategy -- when to place, when to hit, when to try to score...

I\'ve been a skip (captain), and a vice-skip in the time I\'ve played, and I\'ll grant, it isn\'t very exciting to watch from the spectator\'s point of view, but as a player, it\'s pretty cool (literally and figuratively).

But there\'s no bats in it.

You can, if you really want to, club an opponent with your broom, but that\'s severely frowned upon.

But of course ... all sports are boring if you are not into them, and all sports are exciting if you are ... no matter what they are. I\'m sure that someone, somewhere, out there, is the sole fan of the \"sport\" of competition grass growing.
