Far from being swamped with simbussions I\'d guess the (credible) applications would be rather low? Daemon quality painters willing to move to Nottingham, or live in the area already, and not have a current career/obligation must be few and far between. Not to mention actually wanting to paint for a living rather than a hobby.

Like I mentioned on warseer though, I\'d have to agree that that there\'s a lot to be said for job satisfaction over money, and hardly too different from commission painting. Personally were I up to the standard and free it would be more than tempting.

Need to get yourselves a summer trainee internship. Now *that* would have a lot of applicants, students everwhere flocking to make you all tea while peering over your shoulders hounding you for tips! Beats office work. lol

;)

PS seriously, we have to base them ourselves, becasue sadly basing monkeys seem to be an extinct species. However, we do get to base the figures while sitting next to razza!!! If we\'re lucky we\'ll catch a bit of that bionic magic dust...

Geee... I would *really* love to do some practice Working as a Apprentice there, is something like that even possible...?...

You need people with the Eavy Metal Style, I strongly guess...

And this is funny: It is the FIRST (and quite probably ONLY...) job in the world I hear of, where writing \"I won a Golden Demon!\" in your CV is worth anything...:D...

FINALLY...:)...

Thers a small piece of me that wishes I could sell my house and most of my crap.. jump the pond and paint mini\'s with yu guys for a couple years. I think it would be a hoot.. and then reality kicks in :(

I took my hobby and turned it into my job 16 years ago and I\'m still having fun.

Lost my post to an IE error dammit

Anyway I was saying that a couple years ago Tammy Haye got me \" \" this close to making a portfolio when a studio position opened up. In the end I couldn\'t quite justify moving halfway around the world for the job though, not when I was just starting university :)

I could see me doing a job like that for a while down the road, if nothing else then just for the atmosphere and the chance to learn some new techniques and styles of painting. Painting is great when there\'s other people around!

On the other hand, I\'d probably jump out a window if anyone tried to make me paint Lizardmen... :p

Having worked for GW before, albeit a long time ago, all I can say is, I would never work for them again.

Plus apart from the odd mini, they just churn out rubbish IMO most of the time.

I was offered a painting job, with Rackham, after they saw some of my showcase minis, and I turned them down, why would I want to downgradelol

I suppose if you need a break into the world of GW then it\'s good for you, but not putting what you would expect earn, is always a bell ringer in my book.

Every job I have been for apart from GW has advertised the wage, that way I don\'t waste my time, or feel insulted when they make a crap offer.

i was lucky enough to get a place at \'eavy metal for a job experience last summer (thanks to daz!) and i can tell you its very much fun.... the atmosphere is great, all the guys are nice and they teach u loads of things, also the sculptors around... the studio is the best place to learn!!!! hehe regards to everyone in there!!

The most important part: Do you have to clean the miniatures yourselves??

If not I might consider applying right away!! lol

I think the best thing about getting a job at HQ would be to bug Daz every 2 seconds. \"How did you do that, what colours did you say you used, what size brush...can i watch :)
Seriously though i think the best benifit would be the learning curve. I just think the move to HQ would put off most potential painters.

Do GW ever use freelance painting services?
oh erm...i suppose they would get all they need for free at each GD :)

The commute would be rough but I might do it too if there was no prep work for me to do.

we leave our figs out on the desk at night time before we go home and then the pixies come along and clean them up and spray them for us. ready for painting in the morning:D
sorry, day dreaming again!
yes we have to clean the figs up! it\'s half the fun, no really it is....:D

as for painting style any painter that joins seems to adopt the eavy metal work style over a few months. so to apply you don\'t NEED to paint in the house style. (we beat that into you after) just kidding!

i\'d love to spend a few weeks up there just watching. like a dodgy work experience kid (although a little older at 25)! i\'d just love to spend some time in that sort of environment, as i don\'t know any painters irl to discuss stuff with or watch. i feel i could really learn a lot. i don\'t have the skill to knock out eavy metal standard at any kind of speed though and i think it would be a big wage decrease for me (although i could be wrong, i doubt it though)

Why did I move to Japan! NOOoooooooooo oh wait...

I suck at painting anyway, but I\'d love to work at GW for a bit. I love Nottingham too (apart from the gun crime ;))

personally all this is something my wife has already agreed with me on. i would quit my job and move from america to england just to work for gw as a painter. first things first i need to get much MUCH better though. i have been painting for a year in april and only hope that there will be another opening over the next few years. my current job is as a teacher and i make enough but not tons. so if i can supplement my income and make that much in england then i am going for it. at least i hope i get it. umm fil, anja, raz you like me dont you? i\'ll shine your shoes.

i can be uberdark the lowly base monkey/shoe shiner/ painter etc. lol

I have a few questions though... do you have to wait for a free job, or can you apply to like... keith robertson any time?(Keith is the \'Eavy metal mannager, right?)

and how much is the average salary?
