Trip around the world

I would simply LOVE to go to the Hermatage. I would love to see Russia, and about the whole rest of the world. Health and money kinda put the brakes of some of that....sigh.

Yes, Hermitage is definitely worth seeing. Although it might take you a few days to see just a small part of it. As for seeing Russia, it\'s a country of contrasts. It\'s even said that Moscow is a whole different country within Russia. The wealth is spread very unevenly ...

I like it too, I have been in Moscow in 1988 for about a month to teach mini-computer troubleshooting.

One of the best part of Moscow are the subway stations... everyone is a unique piece of art.

I forgot about the art in the subway\'s. It sounds fantastic. You say Russia is varied. I can believe it. With 10 time zones it must be. Seems like every country has it\'s economic stratification. Here in California there are alot of differences. What you usually see in movies and TV is about 1/10th of 1 percent of what is REALLY here.It\'s really quite normal here. I remember going to another country and they were aghast that I had never been surfing. It dosent interest me and the water at the beach here come\'s straight down from the Bearing straight. It\'s numbingly cold. Economically there are some differences, but I think the poorest here in the states is in the south east. There are some REALLY bad off places there. It\'s really quite interesting to hear first hand all the responses from all over the world. It makes me realise how similar we all are.

I must agree, the design of the Moscow subway is very impressive. I even had an idea of making series of pictures of the lamps from the subway -- they\'re very interesting to look at:

Wow, I wish i lived in these cities with magnificent buildings and huge highrises:(
Reykjavik is really interesting but very chaosy.

Here\'s some pics the photography teacher in my school took of the new school here that\'s a WIP and then went up to a construction crane and got some good shots of my neighbourhood. I live in this suburb on a hill, with huge water tanks on it :]
Oh and the collection of shacks with weird roofs is my current school, temporary until they finish the new one *grumble*

PICS, taken this summer :D

The view from a mountain(to the left in the last pic) near my neighbourhood, pretty good overview of the city, but doesn\'t show all.

nice photos! I honestly had no idea what Iceland looked like, and especially the city. Actually different than what I expected for some reason. :)

And here we have it ladies and gentlemen, the view from the PC room window.
Bolton in the snow, (that\'s what the blotches are) taken on Sunday 13th Feb.

Highly exotic location isn\'t it.

Sunny Melbourne! ...well sometimes!!

Ok, not as exciting and historically interesting as Moscow (...well just about anywhere really! lol ) , but here are a couple of shots from my 17th floor office window.

First one is towards the south east. The central business district and the majority of the high rises are to the north east and not visible from these windows. This shot shows the Yarra River and Port Phillip Bay and the arts centre, etc.

The second one is looking south towards the bay, some park land and the Yarra River again.

viewfromCBDtosouth.jpg

Third one is the view towards the southeast. You can see the Melbourne Cricket Ground and off to the right are Vodafone and Rod Laver Arenas. This is where the Australian Open is held (a couple of weeks ago) if you\'re into tennis.

I live way over there in the distance slightly to the north of this photo.

viewfromCBDtosoutheast.jpg

...and last one. This is to the northeast and shows some more parkland and stuff. The pointy thing is St Pauls Cathedral.

I just love this thread! I\'ll see if I can take some pics of inner city Stockholm, and not just my suburb.

It is really fascinating to see all these places around the world, makes all of you more real and not just a bunch of screen names :)

Call that snow? ???;) We had probably 30 cm snow last Sunday. Now it\'s slowly turning into muck, though... :(

Hy there,
I am just living in a small town in \"Ostwestfalen\" in Germany. We don\'t have hills / mountains, big lakes or any known monuments just rain and red traffic lights (well, thats what the majority of the visitors say... ;))

But nevertheless I like it here...
These pics are not taken by me, but whatever...

Ah, I almost forgot: We have the biggest computer museum (I think of europe)

And last but not least: the little brother of the \"Statue of liberty\", the \"Hermannsdenkmal\". It\'s a local hero who stoped the Romans.

To lessen your enthusiasm: one square meter of the appartments in the residential complex that I took a picture of (the one seen from my window) cost about 5K USD. :D

Are little patch of grass...uh, dirt!

Well, I finally figured out how to post pictures. So here\'s a picture of our screened-in-porch that we\'ve had built. It\'s almost done. The view from it is just a hill with a bunch of trees, but it sure will be nice come springtime!

At least you can see bare ground :duh: Currently, I\'d have to dig down about 2 - 3 feet to find a patch of dirt :D

Nice looking porch though.

Wow some awsome views out there. Got me itching to go travel around. Japan and iceland are on top of my \"to visit\" list. Followed by the west coast and most of europe :p

Oh and don\'t limit yourself to the view from the house. The point here is to show all the differenet places in the world so vacation pics work too. And local suroundings :D
