I'd love to paint a mini like that some day, but I'd have a hella trouble getting it past the wife. It's not that she's day "no - you cant paint that." but I know she's sit there tutting and asking inappropriate questions like "are you painting her ass now? When are you going to paint her ass?" and suchlike. Arguments of "but hon, I just want to practice working on my skin tones" would cut no ice :(

Speaking of which - lovely work on the skin tones :)

Thanks guys. Work will resume today. Yesterday was fun, but full of non-painting activities.

As for painting pin-ups - most of them have clothed bums, so you might just have to find a different one. :) I like their whole line, but this one really caught my eye.

*edit* oh yeah - one more observation from working this scale. At the size most of us are used to (32mm), even more extreme shading doesn't look that off, regardless of angle. At this size though, it becomes plainly obvious that the shading is exaggerated as soon as you move out of alignment with your simulated light. For instance, when she's facing upright, and the shading is in line with the actual lighting, it looks great. But turn her upside down, and suddenly theres this big reddish purple blotch on her thigh. It's disconcerting.

Very nice skin tones, Trys! Looks like I get to work on mine too - only the opposite with size. My White Speaker just arrived. You weren't kidding when you said these things were tiny! Damn good thing my third hand with magnifier and LED came in at the same time. I'm gonna need it. lol!

The painting of the skintones is very nice but they seem a bit orangy. It could be just the lighting and photography, but she looks like she's a big fan of of tanning creams laced with carotene. :island:

Speak for yerself, pal.

From where she fell down some stairs, I'm sure...

Now that inappropriate jokes are out of the way, that is looking pretty good. Confusing mini, but looking like a great paintjob. And I hope to see photos of your finished Cang up in the gallery today.

And what is this Zombies game that has stolen Elly from CMoN?

Nah - it's call of duty. Black Ops has a zombie survival mode.

And Meph - it is a bit orange. I'm hoping it will lighten once I get highlights in. Midlund flesh doesn't look orange at all, but for some reason it goes on that way. I'll get it sorted. We don't need any Jersey Shore tans around here, TYVM.

Yay for more painting time. The skin tone is like the first pic. My photoshop-fu isn't good enough to tweak the color balance on the others, so I took that one as a reference. Yes, I know the eyes not quite in line. I'll fix that too. :)

Looking great, Trys! I definitely like the color in the first pic. But in the last one it appears as if you have some rough patches? Around the neck and maybe on the cheek or is it noise?

Hi Trys,

Skin tone looks nice mate. Kath is right, chest looks a little rough in that last pic. I also think maybe the Iris/pupil of the eyes could be bigger, she looks very (unnaturally) pop eyed at the moment.

Oh and I'm still around, just been snowed under with illness, family duties, work and cough! cough! cycling cough! I'm hoping to spend some time behind the brush next week.

Woah, those eyes! Those eyes! If I woke up and saw a girl staring at me like that I'd start frantically reaching under my bed, wishing I kept a baseball bat there...

Haha yeah, the eyes still need some work. Eyes are hard ><

As for the rough patch, it's not just the pics. But I'm not sure what I can do about it at this point. I may have to play around a bit.

Rubbing, buxoms need rubbing, or playing, just as you mentioned. See? You're already on the right track.

Her left eye looks fine, just repaint the right eye to look in the same direction. This is a nice model, for certain, not sure I'd be brave enough to attempt it though loL!

So I've got a question for you painter types - what's a good way to create lots of identical round circles of paint? I am going to be doing her dress as green with white polka dots, and I'm not envying having to freehand those dots.
