Okay, if it's not THAT blue, then it looks like you're going the right direction. But between your reference pic and taking into account the camera phone, I'm still thinking it's a little harsh. I like the effect you got on her left ribcage with the color and think that's closer to the mark than anywhere else but maybe consider taking it a little more purple around the transition edges.

The blue in the photo seems almost like what a hot spot might be on NMM but since I'm not so great on that I dunno. The transition area on the reference photo from blue to normal lighting seems more like a purplish...like Reaper's Ashen Brown, just a little darker. Maybe approach it not as BLUE but go for a cool, dark flesh tone instead. Save the stronger blue for the upper part of the highlight.

Well hun, the only problem with having her flat in the photo tent is that highlights and shadows are all about the viewing angle. So it's really hard to tell (for me) if it's working. The blue still appears a tad strong, but I do like the color in these photos better than the previous ones - maybe one or two thin flesh tone glazes? If you make them really thin and make sure each one dries before starting the next, you can stop before they go too dark. That's the only thing I can think of anyway...sorry it's not much help.

Kath - that's how I've been toning down the blue so far. I can take it down further without too much trouble.

Well, perhaps not Werner's world but Reaper's. I have a feeling Werner was operating under strict guidelines. Shoot I can't even post pics of my Reaper Female Centaur to their forums. The hair hasn't been blued yet, and the eyes aren't done either. As for Werner, I don't doubt that's the case. Hasslefree (Artemis) and Kingdom Death (Wet Nurse *shudder*) must not have the same guidelines. Not that it matters. There's minis for all kinds, and those aren't very kid friendly haha.

The mini is so large and unwieldy I can't hold it by pinning it like I can a smaller mini. I've been holder her by the wings, but you can see what that's doing to the primer.

I'm not entirely happy with the eyes, but I can always come back to those. The leggings and bracer are just base coated, clearly

Looking goo so far! With my model horses, they are always too big and awkward so I use either those blue paper towel "shop towels" you can get at walmart or a piece of notebook paper. Don't get just any ole paper towel because the heat from your hands will warm up the towel and the paint and you'll get fuzz stuck to the paint. I haven't had any problems with the blue shop towels. Notebook paper also works for the same reason, no fuzz.

She's metal right? Or resin? Where the oils from your fingers damaged the primer, carefully take a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and remove the grime and oil. Don't go crazy with it because if it's resin, the alcohol can muck that up if you use a whole bunch. After you've cleaned the area you can use brush on primer and you should be good to go after that.

Since I had to fix that sort of thing all the time with the horses, I got pretty good at it. lol!

The eyes look good man, and the blue shading is really coming together. She's starting to look like a girl i once new, batshit-crazy she was. Seeing this model reminds that I should've put more effort into finding vestigial wings. Maybe it was the fear of finding them that kept me at bay.

I really like the eyes and the side lighting is taking shape as well. I had a similar problem when I painted the Balrog. It too was large and unwieldy. What worked for me was to wear a clean, latex glove on my left hand when I needed to hold it. I then just held it gently from where ever I chose to for the angle I needed. That simple. It worked for me, I hope it works for you if you choos to try it. I think I'm going to buy me one of these. Your making it look so easy.
