So even better if not a TMM, a NMM which looks like a TMM is one of the absolute NMM goal in order not to look too cartoonish.

Looking good. Yeah, the silver plates look great. Nice job on the NMM. You might say it's quick and dirty, but the end result is very nice. I'm really digging this figure.

Are you going to do anything with the shield? If you don't have a design planned a simple option would be to quarter it, maybe red and white. Something like this:

Of course you could go a lot of complicated with the design work, just depends on how you feel about doing freehand.

That color scheme would make a nice looking squad of fighters. You are really bringing the soso bones sculpts to life.

Thanks Krule. I've been really surprised with Bones. Sure, you're not likely to enter them into Crystal Brush, but they are fully capable of turning into great tabletop+ figures. At at their price, you can afford to be a little fast and sloppy with the paint, since you're not worried about doing justice to a $25 dollar figure.

I hear you. They are the only thing that has allowed me to get some quick painting in between baby duties. I am tempted to say they are a signifintly better value than the Sedition Wars plastic Samaritans. Similar amounts of flash in inconvenient areas, much cheaper, but with flimsier little bits. And with a quick paint job and the low price i will not be concerned if Junior destroys them as he gets older.

Keep the pace up, so i can use your wip for paint scheme ideas. Lol ;)

I remember when the agent of chaos started breaking my stuff. My wife got all quite and just waited to see how I would react (more out of curiosity than fear). All I said was: Ah, makin' room for more huh?

Another two hours or so. All that's left is the spear, but I need to prime it without getting the rest of her. Hmm.

The red was done just by mixing GW Evil Sunz Scarlet and Glaze Medium, and then applying lightly in several layers to get brighter.
I left the eyes white on purpose, as I like the look it gives her.
The glove was an interesting experiment - all I did was basecoat it P3 Battlefield Brown, and then apply GW Druchii Violet ink to the shadows and GW Lamenters Yellow Ink to the highlights.
I decided to leave the shield plain, simply because I like the way it looks on her.

Spray a little primer in the cap and then brush it on with a cheap brush.

And i agree with keeping the shield as is.

you can just prime it with regular paint. I do it all the time and never have any problems. That big girl I am painting right now didn't see any primer, just paint directly onto the resin.

GW had a brush on black primer but i think it only comes in a paint set now :( If you can get easy access to vallejo surface primers they brush on well, self level and i highly recommend them.

Bones are on hold while I try and get an entry done for GenCon in a few weeks. Elly and I are going down there, and while we both planned on entering, he's just not going to be able to get something done in time. So it falls to me. There's a lot of manufacturer categories, and I have figures for most, if not all, of them. But we wanted to focus on Dark Sword - specifically the Game of Thrones line.
There's a lot of the more popular characters out there already done, so I wanted something a little less obvious, but not too obscure.
I picked Melisandre. I haven't nailed down a base idea yet, but I needed to start getting paint down. These Dark Sword minis are excellent. cast metal, but resin levels of detail. Quite impressive.
The skin is pretty much done, but the hair is just a basecoat. Not sold on the lips either, though part of that may just be the shoddy pics.

Thoughts?

Neat choice, should give you plenty of chances to paint red. That dress is going to be fun to paint. The skin looks good. The lips don't bother me but from the pictures it looks like the top of the bottom lip could use a highlight.

There are certainly a lot of things you could do with the base. I'm not sure how it would work but it'd be cool to paint the shadow assassin on it.

great looking face, I know the hair is just a basecoat but you should keep the hair colour & lips the same - looks cool like that me thinks.

I put down a thin base of GW Tallarn Flesh.
Then I mixed about 50/50 Tallarn Flesh and VMC Basic Skintone (and a lot of glaze medium).
Then I applied pure VMC, again with a lot of glaze medium.
Lastly I added a little white to the Basic Skintone, and use that on the highest spots.

Most of the time, when I do skin, I base with P3 Sanguine Base and use P3 Midlund Flesh as a mid-tone. But this time I wanted to stick with a paler skintone, and stay away from reds and pinks, since she's going to be pretty much all red hair and garments.
