A very saturated green for the freehand or a very deep red would work. Simple lines might be best given all the detail on the silver surrounding it - anything else would get too busy, I think. Is that the beginnings of the dog from Okami?

I like the dots on the trouses, to me it has a persian feel so some sort of islamic / persian style pattern could work nothing too in depth though you will go Cray Cray looking at all the deltail!

The bricks are coming along well, have you thought of having some of the wall plastered, I remember being in portugal ans seeing some old houses with chunks of plaster missing. Duno if thats the kinda theme your going for.

Played with the other half of my Scale 75 nmm set - the blue steel colors.
The camera lost some of the contrast, but I'm happy with where it's at so far. Only the chest plates are done(ish).

Looking nice so far Trystan. I am probably in the minority, but am not a fan of the dots on the trousers. To my mind it is not immediately clear in the photos and distracts from the awsome shading.

And so far the yellow sash is a nice contrast to the blues. What color are you thinking for the cloak?

Krule - I think the dots are more a failure of my pictures. In hand, they don't look distracting and actually work nicely with the rest of it. Hopefully when I go to take submission photos I can get that across better.
As for the cloak - I've got a few thoughts. Initially I was going to go with a blue/green, but now I'm thinking I may go more of a red. Or orange. Or Yellow. Or Ivory. I don't know. Haha.

Just blocking in colors. There's going to be a lot of NMM on this guy apparently lol. Claws will be steel as well. I'm stuck on the cloak though - I originally wanted to go with a sea green, but with all the blue now I'm thinking of going complementary. But I'm afraid an orange would be too bright. Thoughts?

The dots are more convincing in the last photos.

Cloak, i vote for dark...but maybe a dark blue/navy to tie in with the rest of the blue. He also seems to be mister fancy pants, so you could paint the inside of the cloak in a darker hue of the yellow/gold of the loin cloth...go or a satin cloth liner look.

Been a Sedition Wars kind of weekend. A few games, and the sudden urge to do some painting on the Vanguard. Painted figures look so much better.

Camera really hosing me here - that blueish purple is actually pretty close to a royal purple, like so:

That should complete the blocking of colors, although there will be some form of trim/freehand on the cloak.
So what do you guys think of purple/black? Should I shade the inside more towards red (or blue) or just lighten?
Should I shade the outside with grey, or blue, or purple?

What are you doing with the claws and bracers and what-not? I would maybe go after those big claws and see where they come out compared to the face and the yellow/blue/purple.
