The Taurus isn't something I'd go for but I think you're being altogether too harsh. The sculptor, as far as I know, hasn't sculpted too many full pieces. Disregarding years of conversion GSing etc, you could probably count the number on 2 hands. Maybe 2 hands and a foot.
Taking a good look at the details and fantasy proportions and wotnot they're very fair, and by details I mean the crispness and general quality of the workmanship. I think the model is too busy and I'm not mad keen on the posture but I suppose a good deal of the blame can be apportioned to whoever supervises the range. The higher-ups as it were. And the concept artist, but I can imagine that it all looked very decent in 2D. Actually it's not even all that over-burdened with surplus detail really. That
Space hulk guy, among many other examples, seems to have more pointless shit crammed into a mini one tenth of the size of this, most of the stuff on the Taurus is perfectly legit (given current trends - I generally like something a bit more minimal), it's just the pose and the aforementioned wing clutter that aren't so great, in my opinion.
The main reason I think you're being a bit of a twunt is that you probably wouldn't be anything like as curt or glib if the creator posted the piece himself and said "look what I did". Or even if you knew he'd read the forums and see your incisive evaluation. I don't know if he's an active member these days but there's a not-insignificant chance, yet your comments give the impression that you really don't care either way. And that you'd gladly punch a juvenile platypus.
Oh I'm guilty of the same offence and I know Tortoise is too (the careless criticism, not the abuse of aquatic mammals) so I shouldn't be outraged. I'm not. I just want to support Tortoise. The lad has talent, I'm sure we'll see many great things.
