Thanks. i still think we should all use the same colours of paint since they are going to be part of a platoon. Whats everyone say on this? or should we just go about it the way we would normally (based from the concept on page two) and see the different styles and use of colour? Maybe a little poll for those involved?

To be honest if Cedric\'s concept art is used as a guide I don\'t think it realy makes that much difference given the number of different painters and styles, I tend to use a variety of paints not just GW and I know other participants are the same so a bit of variety might not be a bad thing.

Reading the fluff behind these guys they mix recruits in with the veterans so there is bound to be variations in uniform styles and shades. :D

Between Cedric and I we\'ve already discussed and stated that the bases need to be urban rubble highlighted in grey\'s.
Given the variation on any building site with demolition we are not too worried.
If you want to add dilute washes of any of the Browns, Blacks, Greens etc over the initial coat of the mini\'s base I do not think it will harm the look, just don\'t go overboard. We\'re trying to make this look similar but not carbon copy clones.

Penguinyour idea of the urban base set seems like a good idea at first glance, but when you take in to consideration the amount of time, effort and cost to distribute the set, then the benefits are outweighed.
Regretfully, I would suggest that we forget this idea as for the timescale it\'s a little too much to ask of people. One mini per person is a good basis in my opinion.

@ Thecadian: If you can\'t go to Gamesday then the idea is to post it directly to me, or to give it to someone else who is going to Gamesday who can then in turn pass the figure to Cedric and I.

Squighunter The idea is that you purchase the mini and once painted, it becomes a donation to the set to be auctioned.

Tabstudio Tracy. I love the chosen charity. Great choice. (Blows a Kiss over to you).

I hope that this answers any queries for the moment. :D

Ok Ive been snoozing..looks like you guys went and got this started.. anything left?

Sorry, took some days off.

@Mike : thanks for answering everybody\'s questions ;).

@Dragon Forge Design : there\'s a Vostroyan Trooper, a commissar; or a sniper that are left to paint ;).

@Thecadian : there might be a solution. I need to talk to Mike about it first.

I think it was suggested that we show WIP\'s etc in this thread but it doesn\'t worry me either way so long as I can find the thread, bear in mind I\'m in and out with a week or two in between as I am up in Snowdonia on the 8th for the Southern MS Challenge.

Well my base is done and I will start painting it tonight. I\'ve gone rather over the top with mangled metal and wires mixed into the rubble and suddenly realised I now have to paint it all in nmm. Curses!

I finally took a closer look at the grenade launcher bloke too, and he is wearing chainmail instead of carapace armour. I hate painting nmm chainmail. Even more curses!

For some reason I am also tempted to have a blast from the grenade launcher as if he has just fired and have the dude illuminated by the flare with some osl. Good idea or will this make him stand out too much in the unit?

I\'ll have some shots of the base in the next few days so if a wip thread has been created I\'ll stick them in there.

Sounds interesting Lono :) Just to check:
store.uk

Judging from Cédric\'s sketches, am I going to paint him mostly in silver NMM with some gold and red details?
I should hopefully be able to order him (and the radioey stuff) this weekend or maybe earlier this week.

I just had a thought bout my lighting idea. Do grenade launchers actualy have muzzle flares? It would be a bit silly to add one if all they really do is make that satisfying \"Fdduump\" sound.

Might just be a bit \"Over The Top\" for what were are aiming at.
While I don\'t whant to stifle creativity, please remember that there are a lot of differing painters doing these figures.

A basic rubble base will be just fine as well.

Cheers Rob, the commander arrived this morning in the post and is cleaned up and de-tabbed ready to have the holes drilled and wires put in for the base. Haaven\'t decided what type of base yet other than rubble obviously.

Can the commander be on a larger base or is the standard base a must for everybody ???

I went for the standard base for the Standard Bearer in the end........not keen, but I can get carried away by bases......
