also unless your gonna enjoy painting something DON\'T DO IT FOR A COMP!
:)

I have some intresting ideas for some minis. I will include different minis from different races to make a nice combination. and if I paint something for a comp, I have a goal that I\'m struggeling to get to. that way, it\'s the most possible chanceof succesfully create a mini that I personally think is worthy showing as a display at GD. I don\'t think I will win (since there is alot of far more talented painters out there than me, and I will be competing with adults)

matty1001: I usually show my progress and my display minis so that I get some feedback and critique. that is in my own oppinion a great way of developing my painting abilities. and when I get feedback I get so exited to do more to show you guys so that I get even more oppinions and critique.
that is mainly why I PROBABLY will do a WIP.
but I\'m certain I will have more space between my updates than I have now.
even though it will be a redgiment I will try to develope my skills and become a better painter with each model I paint.

You can always send WIP shots to the members on the forums that you want feedback from privately, that way you get your feedback, and not everyone sees what you\'re doing. However, it\'s not like the WIP thread dooms your entry or anything.

Of course post WIP\'s but not on your GD stuff.
Im not saying don\'t, but a GD entry IMO is best kept secret incase people nick you ideas. Just PM people about WIPs rather than showing the thousands of people who come to this site. Just my thought\'s anyway and id be a bit pissed if an idea i had worked on was stolen and done better by a different painter.

dont worry about who else is entering or how better they are just enjoy yourself by which ever methods you prefer, like i said some minis that are technically less proficient have won GD\'s over some awsome pieces just beacause of theme and atmosphere. some times courage and guts can and will win over skill, but only if your in that zone, which can\'t come if you force it.(check out the cheesy thunder cats moral ending bit):D:D:D

you have a point there matty, that is probably the best idea.
I would also be quite pissed if someone stole my idea

but someone mimicing you work is the best compliment you can get imo.
though it shows that the person mimicing has a very limited fantasy to work out ideas with :p
