UK Mini painting organisation

This is pretty cool. I wish we had something like this locally. Unfortunately the local GW store is more of a daycare then an actual Hobby Shop. No clue why it\'s so bad here but if you are over 12 years old you are out of place.

There is a local club but they are more about playing games of 40K then about modeling and painting. For me to get involved I would actually have to learn some rules newer then Rogue Trader.

Sounds good!

What about a display of GD winners and other stuff not seen by many out of my collection?

Seeing as GW can\'t get their act together to get it displayed!

Hell yeah.... would be nice if the artist himself could make an appearance..
Squidders how about you too chief???

looking Forward to it since you first mentioned it Ben and glad someone has gone ahead and done it and GW are supporting....also would it be possible for someone to bring along a light and tent set up for piccies ?? the conference rooms and Warhammer world lighting sucks...just a thought..

on a side note anyone in Yorkshire area also wanna meet up some time drop me a pm.. got a nice big room at a local club secured...would be nice to find a few painters in the area as most of the customers in the stores are meglomaniacal gamers....pah....

Not exactly, I will however (hopefully) be moving to the UK this summer. So I\'m crossing my fingers (and toes) to that I\'ll make it to this.

This is a really good idea! And if I organise myself carefully, I might be able to come. Will have to have words with the b\'friend- he was muttering about doing something in July, but I\'m sure we can come to some agreement... ;)

Sounds good to me I should be able to make that date and bring a few figures with me as well :)

Not sure how it will work though is a case of show and talk or are GW going to provide a few cabinets for figures to go into whilst we sit about and talk/paint/drink coffee??? Lighting there isn\'t good though :(

Mike, might be a good time for those table legs to come into your possession :D

No Doubt We\'ll have a \"Bootie\" Bodyguard for our Minis.
Don\'t think it\'ll be a problem as we can always take it in turns and arrange cover.
I\'m lashing out £20 this weekend on a portable display light.

Hi folks...

Just a quick reply to a few things...

Yeah, the idea is to get face to face interaction between painters with the minis in front of them (not behind glass).

Between other mini painters we shouldn\'t have a problem with people picking up stuff without asking... but we will have signs and make announcements as there could well be other members of the public there.

The bottom line is, it\'s going to have to be the painter\'s responsibility to keep an eye on their minis... which is why coming as a small group seems the best bet :)

Likewise we\'re going to have to leave it up to individuals and groups if they want to bring their own display materials and/or lighting.

Someone also mentioned having facilities to do some photography there... that\'d be a great thing to do if we can... I know a lot of folks don\'t have access to proper studio photography equipment so that\'d be a great thing for folks.

Anyway, bottom line is, if anyone wants to do anything clever with lighting etc, drop us an e-mail and we\'ll try and get it organised.

Cheers

So this is what Rob (demonherald) was on about!!!

Sounds very interesting. I may be able to attend (have to consult my social secretary/boss) and I will bring the \'lump\' down (Diorama).

Up the Yorkshire painters! Team Yorkshire lollollol

Sounds a great idea, maybee I could finaly get myself out of isolation and actualy meet other fellow painters, would be great.

However, lugging 3 kidds aged 4 and under together with a pregnant wife aint wise, I also dont drive ;(

Why oh why did I agree to move to cruddy Bournemouth? oh yeah, thats where the wife lived ;) Going from Wrexham would have been much easier.

As DaN said, pitty it aint at the BIC ;) but I know how expensive it would be to organise anything there or other similar venues.

Maybee someone has a mansion we could use, bring the wife and kidds, lounge about drinking, oh sorry, forgot, this is about painting ;)

Seriously though, I\'d love to come along and support this, it\'s what the UK scene needs, but I can\'t see it happening untill I either learn to drive or the kidds have grown up and the wife stops getting pregnant. Oh yeah, that would involve me too ;)

I hope it\'s a success guys\\galls, have a good one.
