Skeleton Warrior Test

(Just uploaded it, so it may take a while before it\'s approved and in the loop...)

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

The next test subject is going to be pretty much the same technique, but starting with Vallejo English Uniform....

nice...but too clean...too much white without shading for bleached bone.

Maybe just do it GamesWorkshop bone. They have a nice white polished look. I don\'t care for it with my Vampire counts. But it shold do with a Sci-fi undead look. My friend at littlemetalmen.com has a really good undead skintones article too.

He\'s actually got more gradiations than shows in the pic. That\'s the problem with having only a 640x480 pixel camera--not much resolution! :flame:

He is a bit clean, but, like I said, I was doing more of a color experiment than anything. ;) Also, considering I only worked on him for like 2 hours, I\'d be pretty happy with that level for a unit. Not show-piece quality, but pretty high for the \"tabletop.\"

That\'s a pretty nice looking undead tone!

It\'s funny, I just did a couple of tests on that, too, using some GW zombies I have for my Blood Bowl team. :)

I did two kinds:

The first is a \"older\" zombie, that\'s been decaying for a bit. Over white primer, I did a wash of VMC English Uniform. I started adding VGC Dead Flesh to that and built up 5 or so layers of highlights, ending with pure Dead Flesh. A final super thin wash of smoke in the deepest recesses did him dead. ;)

The other was a \"fresher\" zombie. I was particularly testing out something for my (future) Bile Thralls, so I wanted a pretty disgusting color. I used a base coat of VMC Basic Skintone, then a thin wash of VMC Purple applied in the eye sockets, and anywhere I wanted brusing. I glazed the whole shebang with a mix of Basic Skintone and VMC Stone Grey, then started layering up, adding a bit of Ivory each layer. The final layer was Dead Flesh and Ivory. He\'s pretty durn disgusting, and looks like something out of CSI. :D

Test Subject S002

Ok, the next one is up. This time, I used VMC English Uniform as the base, and did pretty much the same thing (i.e., washed over white primer, then started adding Ivory to my English Uniform and highlighting, ending with pure Ivory).

I think I may like this one better, but I\'m concerned about how he might go with the rest of the color scheme I\'ve chosen for my Cryx (deep purple--almost black--and pale green, like on Romulan ships in Star Trek). Comments appreciated.

Skeleton Test #2

...nice. good coverage...more grey to the bone (unless the bone had been bleached dry constantly under the elements...then it\'ll be that white), good shading and well, more \"dirty\" look.

PS: well, at least you got ur minis photographed....mine are still camera shy....or i\'ll just plain lazy (haha...don\'t have a digital cam yet...spend way too much on minis and such...my film SLR is just too much of a hassle to setup, processing and scan...)

Yuk I hate paiting skeletons, but here\'s how I do it.

1) Basecoat Applebarrel black (not as slick as GW)
2) heavy drybrush GW bleached bone
3) light drybrush Applebarrel white (again, not shiny)

Done!

No, I was in a \"I don\'t wanna paint\" slump for a couple months. But I\'m back now and I have a lot of minis I need to post if I can ever get good shots of them. I finally finished my DE colored Red Lionness and she\'s awesome.
