Sit down, it\'s a long story:

When the Portugese first settled the area of Brzail, they brought many african slaves with them. Around the early 1800\'s many slaves had escaped to the wilderness but were in danger of being captured or killed by an army of settlers. Having no firearms of any kind, they devised a way of using their own hands and feet to disarm oppents which was derived from thier ancient dance rituals. The area they made their stand was called Capoeria, and after they defeated the army, this is what the fighting art is known as.

Basically, Capoeria can be called Ninja Break Dancing, but though it is a martial art, it is Brazilian in origin, and not Oriental. Most poses in Capoeria look as though the individual is defying gravity by way of acrobatics. The moves confuse the enemy because they look similiar to each other, and the stance is a dance and not standing in a certain postion. When resaerching this, I thought it was great for Harlequins, as well as any dynamic pose for any game, simply by adding swords or pistols.

You can search online, this is a great site for videos of the moves.

What do ninjas have to do with this ???? God, I hate how people plunder aspects of a culture, taper it to a totally different concept, and think it\'s \"cool\" when they\'re only making fools of themselves (no offence Chrispy). In 1800 I believe ninja groups were declining in Japan, and I\'m pretty sure none of them ever set foot in South America to learn Break Dancing .

It\'s the little things that we need changed, really.. For example: how a mini holds a weapon. Every one of GW\'s minis holds their weapons in the tradtional English \"fist\" method. This creates a right angle with the weapon and looks ugly. Now if we could have them in the traditional Japanese style, it would look tons better. They hold swords almost like you\'re pointing, and thus the sword is an extension of the arm so you can make more fluid motions. It would seem a better style for, say, Eldar and such..

Thanks Chrispy!

I have seen this style of martial arts before, although I had no idea of the name or origins.

You are correct, some very dramatic poses could be incorporated from this style.

It is very poetic in motion, I could picture Wood Elf Wardancers incorporating a similar style.

Again, thanks!:D

Don\'t mention it! For all you video game fans out there, Christie Monterio and Eddy Gordo from Tekken use Capoeira, as well as Elena from Streetfighter.. you can get some great screenshots for use with conversions! :D

The full name of the figure is Captain Victoria Haley - so maybe the surname is just coincidence!

The Warmachine stuff is great - I have the Cygnar Battlegroup Box and am looking forward to painting them up. You certainly get a fair amount of lead in the box.

Victoria: one of the best painters on CMON

I lashed out on the Khador Battlegroup Box and as far as the lead per buck ratio goes it was a bargain. Those Warjacks are big, heavy, mean SOBs. Kommander Sorscha is pretty foxy as well. I am really looking forward to painting up these little beauties as well:bouncy:

I think I\'ll buy the Khador battlegroup box, too - just like nearly everyone else does, it seems. I really want to get away from the evil side I always choose and I\'m looking forward on trying to paint some tribal tattoo style freehand on the nice plain surfaces on the jacks.
I think a military color scheme like Number9\'s works best on them.

Did you notice this review (including gameplay) of Warmachine? - http://www.gamingreport.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=696

Have a nice day,

The problem with me is though I like the concept of the Warjacks, I really don\'t like the sculpts too well. With the exception of some Cyrx and Cygnaur, I don\'t see anything that will make me run out and buy it. I looked at their site and I think the RPG it\'s based on looks a lot more interesting. Maybe if they put in the Elves, Orcs and Dwarves it would be a bit more varied. As it is, it\'s a bunch of humans running around hiting each other, almost the same as every game out there..

Yes, you\'re right

I\'ve slept over it and had a few close-up looks at the different minis. The Khador are just big and intimidating but they could be a bit nicer. Menoth looks just a little odd and comical. Cryx are really cool - the Helljack reminds me of the bug warriors from the movie \'The Dark Crystal\'.
Cygnar warjacks look like they have been made from old western-style steamtrains.

Cygnar will be my choice... I actually ordered them half an hour ago. :p

Have a nice day,
TobiWan

I think they have a definite personality that sets them apart from other lines.

I bought the Cryx and Cygnar battle groups about five/six weeks ago as I thought they would inspire me to start painting again - it worked - well at least I assembled and undercoated the Cygnars!

hehe, I can see how adding Elves, Orcs and Dwarves would make for a really unique fantasy game :D

Personally, I think their steampunk fantasy setting is quite different and it\'s actually one reason the game piqued my interest.

I really like the Khador faction stuff as I think the Russian style works well with that concept of lo-tech industrial. Unfortunately a friend got in first by announcing he\'d get Khador and I settled for Cygnar. As it happens he\'s never bothered to get the Box set and I\'m not sure he will either. Oh well - them\'s the breaks.

Hmm, and this keeps you from purchasing the box set as a back up or to have around in case someone wants to play on the spur of the moment how?

khador all the way! cept that one they always show on the right looks like he has a mighty ducks face mask on :) really dig the new khador man o war shock troopers too, reminds me of Joe Mad armor designs. and id defeinetly pick up minis from the other factions like the characters as they are awesome single minis. dont know about playing the game though, i know its still early in the range but just the lack of depth to the ranges right now makes it way too early for me to see what evolution they will get further on. i think if they added way more smaller mechs and more troops and less hulking mehcs id give it a shot. i really prefer bigger well varied armies instead of mechwarrior/battletech/heavygear/cav, where u just have big vehicle groups followed by strangly out of place looking ground troops and little tanks.

also doesnt warmachine employ the sculpting talents of the former GW god mike mcvey? all the more reason to share my love (and wallet) with them.

I\'v always wanted to play Warmachine but It\'s impossible to find anyone else interested in my area (everyone\'s hooked on the hype of GW, including me). Those models are pretty awsome though
