Warmachine - Needs its own section?

Judging from the success of Warmachine and the increasing interest in it, I was wondering when there will be a dedicated Warmachine section and not just lumped in with \'Others\'
???

Seems like there isn\'t such a Warmachine crowd on CMON, as the lack of replies to this thread seems to indicate.

Seems like you are right...

It looks like you might be right.
There aren\'t that many Warmachine mini\'s on here.
Its a lot of Rackham and GW, with a little bit of everything else thrown in for good measure.

searching under privateer press is enough for me. A whole special classification for warmachine is a bit asinine though. I consider it fantasy. If it didn\'t have magic it would be fanatasy still because it is set in a kind of dark age.

Erm, not quite what I meant

Hey SMoth, I didn\'t mean on the Mini posting side of CMON, I know i can search under PP and that is enough for me.... I meant here in the Forums, after all Some of the other games with their own forum section aren\'t what you would call big sucesses.
Just an idea anyway!

actually i think the lack of replies is more from the remoteness of this section.

i for one would talk warmachine all day long. but frankly PP does not yet have the base of people to call on to make a WM section viable.
i\'ll stilck to PPs IK site for now for WM only stuff. they have the attention of many awsome painters in their website and with brushthralls.com coming online i think the user base is well catered for right now.

WARMACHINE IS THE BEST. sorry didn\'t mean to make a scene...

Warmachine / PP / IK

Yep, you are right.
I check out the PP site almost daily...

And I am sure the future is going to be very rosy for PP & Warmachine.

:)

All will tremble before the hammer blow of mighty Khador

Khador has to be double tough- look at where they live. I\'d try to take over somewhere warm too. And, we need a section- ditto:cool: Its no fun being called an \"other\"

Enjoy. :D

I\'ve got to say. I have been a devoted GW guy up until now, but WM has really been tempting me lately. Infact, I just made up my mind, I need a GW brake. Khador here I come. Where is a good place to buy WM online.

P
There is this AL guy that has an ebay store(huge ebayer should be easy to find)- all you gots to do is go search WM on ebay and he\'ll be there. Very happy with the stuff and cheap/fast too. Tehy can\'t stock it on the shelves fast enough here and he seems to ave a bit of everything.

Welcome to the dark side young sith lord.;):mad:lol:bouncy:

I can\'t wait

Awesome. I\'ll probably go the Ebay route but I\'ll give it some thought first, then get back to you Snowdog. Tab, I\'ll add your site to my favorites list.

@ Praetorian, By Al do you mean Alberta or literally a guy named Al, Because I live in BC and Alberta would be very handy.

OK here are some general WM questions.
Is there an actual Rulebook I can buy or do I have to dowload it or something? How many models are in the average army? How big are the big Khador jacks? I\'ve never seen one of the bases before so it\'s hard to judge scale. Is it permisable fluff wise to paint Khador in something other than red, or would it be like painting Ultramarines flaming orange? IIs there amy good sites for getting the skinny on WM background? the official website is kind of sparse. Is it in the rule book (assuming there is one?

On second thought I\'ll probably get it from the states to take advantage of the good exchange rate!

@Wurzag: You can download the rules from the Privateer Press website. They\'re the quick start rules but they cover pretty much everything except morale.
They\'re also in the starter box sets which are great value. They have a WarCaster and a couple of WarJacks and all the rules you need to use them.
Each box has +/- 300pts in it. So if you play to 500pts you probably only fit three or four more units. Probably one solo which could be like an assassin or something. One unit like riflemen or sword knights and maybe another WarJack.

If you want to find website then frozenport.co.uk will be up soon (damn that artist not getting work to me on time).

It\'s a fun game which costs enough to be a hobby and not a lifestyle.

As Stevie mentioned, there are quickstart rules avalible for download on the main site. There are currently two books for WARMACHINE, \"Prime\" which is the original rule book and the core of everything you will need, rules, and army list for all 4 factions, plus merc, a painting section, and lots of fluff throughout the book. Over the summer, they came out with an all color expansion book called ESCALATION, this contains more units casters, jacks ect for all factions, few more mercs, a nice painting section, and a big section, dedicated to a campaign system for the game.

As most games, depends on your style. But a 500 point force, (the more commonly played games) you may see between 20 to 40 pieces on average.

If you play 40k, think marine dreadnaught. The base on heavy jacks are 50mm across. Paint wise, there is no requires on color. Painting miniatures is part of your hobby and personal expression, do as you please. There are no tourney requires on paint schemes and I highly doubt this will every change.

Yeah, the rule books are your best source. If your one for serious fluff though, there is an RPG side of WARMACHINE called the Iron Kingdoms, a D20 supplement system that is very well written and is the exact same world as WARMACHINE in reguards of background. Currently there is a 400 page character guide book and due early 2005, the world guide book, ringing in at another 400 pages. All great stuff, one of the reasons I love this game is the unique background and well developed world.

Let me know if you have any further questions on ;)
