Yaiks, good luck on that. Server meltdowns are always fun days at work... You know what they say, slow is smooth, smooth is fast. You just have to do it bit by bit.

*Badum-tsh!*

Well, I'm an IT-Consultant in a corporate investment bank. I can assure you we have our share of nightmares with servers. ^_^

Yes Swearing and Virgin sacrifices work wonders, normally....but I work in Birkenhead so the latter are rarer than Rocking Horse Poop!

Well I've been up to no good again.
OK truth is I picked up an eBay bargain (in fact two figures when I only expected one. Whoohoo Win!) and thanks to Jen Haley I have an addiction to Rackham figures. This is an Orc, like you'd never have guessed, trouble is I've forgotten his name. Started him on Saturday afternoon, Worked on him Sunday afternoon and this afternoon. As with all Rackham figures there is a "fudgetonne" of detail which I'm having fun with.

Nice! Those old Rackham figures are such wonderful sculpts. I'm sure you'll have a great time painting this one.

I've found this site (http://rackhamminiatures.yolasite.com/) which is a good resource for checking out all the Rackham figures. A quick search and it looks like this guy is Grakkha, Kamahru's Champion.

Managed to get onto that site this morning Bailey, bit of an eye opener as Grakka is shown with the tree figure he turned up with....and the contrast level!!!!

Well that looks like I'm going to have my work cut out for me adding LOTS of additional colour to make this fella really pop!
I'm going to do my best to make Shelagh happy.

Another Monday, feet under the painting desk, audiobook narrating in the background (Written in Red by Anne Bishop) brushes in hand and washes and glazes aplenty.
Grakka continues to get the work carried on him.

Increased the the contrast with glazes of a mix of Vallejo Airbrush Mahogony and Burnt Umber for the shoulder pauldrons.
Burnt Umber glazes over other areas and then working on the Armour plating.
Violet-Red into the facial creases.
Unfortunately the IPad camera isn't catching the contrast as well as I would like.

Audio books while painting - a genius plan! I usually have some old QI episodes or music on in the background.

He's getting there - although I have a feeling he's going to keep you busy for a while. I like the red you've brought into his gloves and boots - they add extra points of interest for the eye.

And yay DR is painting and showing us!

love that orc the colour choice is a lovely mix of old school saturation but in a limited, unified way looks fantastic.
