Watching Paint Dry

If you want I can source a few when I'm at Salute.
Mitch's Military Miniatures should be there and they often have some spares.

Goes for Shelagh as well.

Wow, thanks DR, that would be awesome. Will just need to make a plan to get some cash over to you.

Well I've just done something I would never normally do, but I've just bought a mini from eBay from a "Pro-Painter", purely to strip it and put it out of its misery.
A limited Edition Cmon/Dark age figure that looks like it was painted with a Qtip, deepest apologies for this picture.

This turned up at the weekend and has been sat in Dettol for a couple of days.
She's cleaned up completely and that shows .........FPS! there's a lot of moulding threads from the casting still on the mini as well as a panel of 'flash' between the body and the arm which has never been removed.

Going to try to get a photo later.
Once she's cleaned up she should paint up OK.
Might see if I can do something with her for Euro.

More progress pics! Please! I need a more regular DR fix.
Maybe today.
Picked up a Chest Cold at the weekend which hit me with a vengeance on Monday night.
First time ever affecting my asthma, plus my voice has dropped down to sounding like a Grizzly Bear.

Hope you'll feeling better! Take care with that asthma... for the voice you can try to make phone jokes now... nobody will recognise you... LOL

Try some mild-hot honey-lemon beverages and make thyme or sodium bicarbonate infusion gargles to recover your voice. ;)

Quick snapshots.

This is the stripped "Pro-painted" item I bought off EBay.
Please note the flash between the arm and side, there's a tiny bit of paint left in the crevasses which currently have a bit of PVA dripped on them. If I've done that right peeling the PVA off should remove the paint as well.

Fisherman's Guild Corsair.
I opted to make him a non-Caucasian skin tone, now some things that I found while building him;
the separate arm is a bugger to fit and even with packing green stuff I missed the fit so I ended up adding a ribbon round the arm. The Peg leg if you remove the slotta tab is slightly smaller than the other leg, so that was resculpted with Greenstuff to lengthen it.
This picture is not the finished state, the highlights have been taken up a few notches, but he and the rest of the Fisherman's guild are packed and ready to to Salute.

And Damn my phone takes big pictures.

Ooh cool. After Salute would you mind gracing us with pics of the finished team?

Have fun over the weekend!

Corsair is looking good. I'm looking forward to seeing the completed team.

Interesting that you had problems assembling him, all of their minis that I've worked with have gone together nice and easily. Did you have any trouble with the others?

YetiSa, yes "Shark" was a serious pain in the Situpon. The two handed harpoon wouldn't bloody align and stay straight.
I ended up pinning the top hand and filling the gap with green stuff attempting to making look like part of the lower hand's wrist wrap.
The only other issue is the "younger" girl with the ripped tights, her hand has a tiny attachment point, less than 1 mm wide. Greenstuff, superglue and my wife's broomstick are holding that in place.

As for painting well there are some figures that just paint themselves, Sakura, Cosair and the two girls are just a dream, working out at about 10 hours each figure. Shark I'd say approx 12 hours.

But the best figure has to be "Salt" the Otter.
Apart from the fact that Otters are one of my favourite animals this sculpt is just lovely.
OK the tail is a bugger if you've big fingers, but painting it up, took me less than an hour. And I was so surprised that to took so little time that I was looking all around it in case I'd missed anything.

I've a few other figures from Guild Ball ( Engineers and Morticians) which are as detailed so really looking forward to applying brush to them. I'd happily recommend these figures to anyone.

Awesome, I'm glad you like them.

It's interesting, it sounds like (corsair aside) it's the skinnier minis that are causing more problems and the ones that I've painted have generally been chunkier.

Incidentally, that otter mini was one of the best selling in their range for a long time. It seems that he's just a popular little guy. :)

I know the butchers starter set is a paint, ox is OK because you only need to stick his axe to his leg (and there's a nice big indent for that) but brisket has one arm to attach which is pretty small but not too bad because her sleeves are quite thick and boiler is in 4 or 5 pieces, his arm was a pain to stick on they're lovely models though, they can just be a bit fiddly, I'm looking forward to the 54mm line they are working on :)

Can't wait to see what you've done with them DR
