American struggling with English

I would rather be trapped on a desert island island however, with either a Geek or an Anorak.
Ack! My brain hurt on this one. Here I am all smug in my knowledge of many American/British mix-up words (like bum or biscuit) when Finn wants to be on a desert island with a fur coat???

Technically speaking, at least as far as this side of the Atlantic is concerned... An \'anorak\' is a singularly inferior outdoor jacket which has some unfortunate rabbit\'s fur adorning it\'s collar.
(I suspect however, that \'anorak\' and \'parka\' now refer to the same item of clothing, in this country at least)

You have all missed the most annoying of all the .........\"Awf\"

These misbegotten forms of life usually inhabit game shops, hobby & comics book stores. They are in the majority male and with one or more of the following distinctive features, Dandruff (both versions Rampant & Terminal), Halitosis, Body Odour, Seriously out of style clothing, lack of any friends, the ability to turn accidental eye contact from the length of the store into an invitation for a three hour monologue on the relevancy of a specific rule in \"Insert Game of choice Here\".

The name comes from the mental expression when collared by one of these males ... \"Aw F......\".
They are in the extreme majority male and therefore highly unlikely to breed. (There is justice in the world!)

For further explanations see Otter\'s wonderful descriptive piece in the Articles section.

Another example of a geek...

Batman

Unlike other \"super heroes,\" he had no super powerss or magic or anything like that. Bruce Wayne was just a rich nerd (not unlike Mr. Gates or Paul Allen) who uses techno wizardry to fight crime. :D

On the other hand IMHO, Peter Parker (spiderman) is just a dork. :D

And BTW, just discussing these things definately qualifies me as a dork as well.:D

This may, or may not, help:D

1a) Someone bigger than me calls me a Geek:

Response: I chuckle in a knowing sort of way and then ask him how much he earns a year?

1b) Someone smaller than me calls me a Geek:

Response: ditto

2a) Someone bigger than me calls me a Dork/Nerd:

Response: I laugh gaily and then either hack into his computer and infect him with anything I have available, follow him into the Gents with a baseball bat or have a ton of quick-drying cement delivered to his house whilst he is on holiday...You get the idea:D

2b) Someone smaller than me calls me a Dork/Nerd:

Response I\'d twat him there and then to save time later..and besides I am a busy man I would hate to forget:D

Anorak???? I would just play that one \'by ear\'. i.e any of the above responses may, or may not , be appropriate;)

OK, so what would finn18 do??? lol

That would make you a geek. It also means you probably enjoyed your prom night more than I did. Anime, RPGs, Wargames and the like are generally the bailiwick of geeks.

... You know, in the material world I\'m not nearly so into labels as I\'m probably coming off here...
