BTW, how can you see the votes some one gave a pict??? Is that possible?
How can you possibly make the statement \"probably done in a paint program\"?Originally posted by Juggernaut
BUT: they were probably (I can\'t really say) done over and over in a paint program which is lame and there might have been several people involved in painting them, so rather a 6.

I\'ve read some garbage comments on here in my time but that one is a real classic.

I\'m encouraged by this discussion. I\'ve witnessed some harsh scores and critiques. A couple of times, I checked out the gallery of a poster who had a lot of criticism, only to find out that their own miniatures compared miserably to the one they were criticizing. One time, the poster didn\'t even have any of their own entries! I agree with the 6-7 range. I also second the suggestion to have a samples page, having several examples for each score.
In fairness to Shades, I think he/she was talking about more than just a couple of points difference between the mini being critiqued and the minis belonging to the critic. Also, I\'m sure that you try to leave helpful critiques and sensible scores rather than slamming somebody\'s work for the sake of it.Originally posted by KatieG

Just because I can\'t paint a mini that scores above a 7 doesn\'t mean I can\'t tell the difference between a miniature that scores a 7 and one that scores a 9. Or that I can\'t give advice (and even useful advice!) on someone\'s miniature that scores an 8. Of course they\'re also free to ignore my advice...
By your reasoning, all judges in a painting contest should be better painters than all the painters they are judging...
What, so it can be resurrected again next month? I think it\'s going to keep coming up whatever, and ignoring it isn\'t going to do anything. Perhaps if the voting guidelines were given a facelift (for example), we might not see it quite so often. Until then yes, this argument is going to go round and round because so many people think something should be done, but nothing ever is.Originally posted by reverend
This subject needs a bullet to the torso, then another to the head. Figuratively speaking of course. Then we can all go home and forget about it.
There is no single answer to this (though i provided my own earlier) so the thread becomes a tail-chasing affair.
Come on, let\'s all drop it, eh?
Not unless we also overhaul the human race to make them not be dicks. However, a short description of approximately what\'s expected for each score might give people who\'ve been (un)fairly judged an idea of what to expect. Obviously, you\'d have to include a disclaimer about how it\'s \"cool *mini* or not\" and how some people are arses regardless.Originally posted by SonofGrimnir
Might seem a silly question but even if something was done and a full overhaul of the voting system was enacted would this solve all problems? or would we all be back on the forums the next day bitching about how the new system was rubbish/broken.:cussing:
Not that im saying we should close this thread, it fun to watch all the old thread dragons roaring at each other![]()
