What do YOU do when you paint?

Just thought I\'d check how people work when they do miniatures. I listen to REALLY loud music, Lord of The Rings soundtrack and stuff like that, sort of gets me in the right mood :p

So what do YOU do when you paint? Or sculpt for that matter?

when we have time to paint, we religiously watch the Sci-Fi channels \"Dune\" and \"Children of Dune\" mini-series. We attach a set of speakers to my laptop and watch them on repeat.

Before the Dune series it was Phantom of the Opera.

Used to be DVD\'s but now it\'s music.

Steel Pulse\'s Handsworth Revolution is getting a good few plays at the moment.

Peace and love...

Music. Used to be audio commentaries but I find my most productive work space is out in the Garage away from a TV.

I see a lot of people use thoose audio/dvd commentaries, what are thoose anyway? Like a normal DVD movie but with the directors commentaries on?

I paint my thumb.
Yeah I NEED something in the background else I go crazy.
I\'d say Red vs Blue is what\'s on most often, some comedy works nice too, or a movie with good dialogs; I don\'t get distracted too much since I can\'t see the TV from where I Paint.
Music too sometimes but not so much.

Whatever is on the tv or DVD player at the time is usually my background noise.
If I didn\'t turn anything on, I work in silence, and maybe hum or sing to myself.

Yeah exactly. The director, cast, whatever talk about the movie they made. Some are great, some not. But it\'s kind of a neat thing to listen to, and the kind of thing you wouldn\'t probably listen to without doing something else.

I really liked the commentaries for the LtR movies, Tropic Thunder, all the kevin Smith movies. The ones that sucked the most were the Star Wars ones.

Commentaries are a great way for me to have fun experienceing a movie I have already seen but not distracting enough to keep me from painting.

Man I love Band of Brothers :D Watched all the episodes many times over. Actually watched all of them a couple of weeks back. The last episode made me cry :p

I\'ll try the LoTR directors cut out :) Sounds kind of nice actually

I usually have www.pandora.com running, that way I can hear all different kinds of music. My iTunes playlist got boring after listening to it for the thousandth time lol

When I paint I usually will paint for about 5 minutes and then spend 1 hour critiquing my 5 minutes of painting. I continue this process until the mini is done.
