Actually what I said was that it would be \"embarrasing to many\".

You said \"That is a sad opinion to have, and is precisely the reason that our hobby has such a geeky label attached to it\"

That is knobs for two reasons. First it is not a \"sad opinion\", it\'s a fact of life.
Many people DO find admiting to playing or painting toy soldiers a daunting prospect at best. As I said I do not include myself amongst them.

And second it has precisely nothing to do with why our hobby is labeled geeky.
The level of pride I have in my painting will have about as much influence on the general populuses opinions as the pride your average star trek geek has in speaking Klingon affects the perception around them.

As to saying the 40 year old virgin didn\'t float your boat, well maybe that explains why you couldn\'t read the humour in my original post.

Since when has something being a \'fact of life\' mutually exclusive to it being \'sad\'? If the less geeky in our ranks continue to hide themselves how will the hobby ever shed any of its geeky labelling? I\'ve met lots of geeks who are into painting toy soldiers but I\'ve also met lots of what could be labelled \'normal\' people who do it too. I have also explained what it is to people who you would never expect to understand or appreciate the hobby, but who then get really quite into it.

If you are a geek (nowt wrong with it if you are), then maybe you\'ll have trouble convincing people that its not just for geeks. Speaking Klingon isnt art, its linguistics, and linguistics isnt as cool as painting minis. I also meant pride in the hobby in general, and I wasnt trying to convince the whole populace of planet earth, just people around me who think the hobby is a load of crap whilst they waste their time on their X-box/watching TV/picking their nose etc.

In general people may not enjoy what we do, but if you take time to explain it they understand the time and effort and artistic nature of it. Something most people can appreciate.

You\'ll also be surprised at how many people have partaken in our geekiness at some point in the past...

its a lads mag

FHM used to be a good fun mag with interesting and funny articles which I used to read. Suddenly it became a 100 page titty mag with crap articles and no content other then pics of semi-nekkid women.

Nice pictures and stuff, but just not as good a read as it was. I just used it as an opposite to geekiness as it thinks of itself as a very trendy groovy magazine.

@TBS: it makes you \'way cooler\' than me

sorry i didn\'t tell you all sooner.

i didn\'t think it would matter. I figured you all knew that I had man-boobs not boob-boobs.

I\'m just a \'cute\' guy.

No wonder I haven\'t had any dates for a while

As a small insight, I\'m getting reports from the external advertisers every day, and yes, those date ads DO get signups from this site. So it\'s a service that someone is interested in buying.
Torn Blue Sky decided to go out and get some of that titty FHM offered.

@IPM: We\'re still waiting for the proof, you know. Either man-boobs, or a good and proper rack of the real things, we want proof.

Does it still have the Style Guy? He was actually USEFUL - he answered men\'s fashion questions that everyone was afraid to ask. And he was funny, and not mean about it, too. I\'m guessing he\'s gone now...
