What Happened to Roger?

Are we talking Basic Training/Leadership/Team building type obstacles here?
Not to put her down in any way, but does she have to do more then hold on for dear life, or does she have to get physical herself? I\'d almost think that it would be more a challenge on the part of her bearers then her, but what do I know.

Nope her only job is to hang on and admire teh views as we travel in and out of the forest around Snowdonia.

The actual challenge is to raise money for the MS Day Centres here in the UK over the 3 day weekend something like 70 or 80 teams will race, each team will pay £140 to run and must have at least 8 people and no more than 12 not including the passenger who has to be afflicted with MS all money raised in sponsorship goes to the various day centres around the country.

All obstacles are natural ones such as fallen trees and river or stream crossings and mud runs it is very physical especially if you only have about 8 or 10 people in your team as you don\'t have enough for a full rotation every now and then, which means at the end of it your arms are ready to dropp off.

We came first out of 76 teams last year with a time of about 1 hour 24 minutes I think it is but even teams of 12 people were coming in, in over 2 hours, no prizes for coming first apart from the team name at the head of the list and the satisfaction of having done something for somebody that otherwise may never have had the fun of the event.

Trust me Donna the first year I did it, it was a hot weekend and the mud when you broke the surface crust chucked to high heaven and back.

The river crossings were nice and cool though but it didn\'t make it any shallower just less of a pull from the current.

LOL I was think more Chippendales myself............but I can feel for the Lady, even being carried by all those hunks. It’s still a strain on the body, she must of been sore and aching for days, believe me a wheelchair is no comfort if you have to sit for hours in one.:(

Donna I can well imagine and these were just basic wheelchairs provided by the day care centres so next to no padding on them. We were the brakes for going down hill

There was two mandatory stops during the run so she had a chance of a break for a short while as we had to stop for 5 minutes minimum even if it was just for juice and a mars bar.

Snickers and Mars Bars are wo ifferent things :D
A Snickers bar has peanuts in it and used to be called a Marathon over here, whereas the Mars Bar is a lo smoother and creamier without the nuts also a massive energy boost when worn out.

HE\'S BACK!!!!!!!!

We have had a confirmed Roger sighting at 3:19pm in Mattrocks birthday thread. That proves that he isn\'t dead which can only mean he\'s been snubbing us for weeks.

Still it saves me the price of a stamp :D

I have had 2 PM\'s from Roger but no other explaination other than he didn\'t have access to a computer and he\'ll post a thread telling us what happened. I\'m glad he\'s not dead but if he doesn\'t tell us what happened soon I\'m going to KILL him!

Okay, I\'m finaly back online. So here\'s the story...

I\'d recieved the new \'puter and had cleared the desk to set the new one up. However, when it came to setting up the monitor, I deiscovered they\'d sent me the wrong power cable, a continental Europe two-pin and not a UK 3-pin plug. Gah! I phoned up pixmania (after getting their number from Samsung as no paper work was sent with the monitor) and they said they\'d send the proper cable as soon as possible. Six days go by and nothing so I phone them again. \"So you have the wrong cable and you\'re still waiting?\" was the reply to my query. It appears they hadn\'t got off their collective backsides to even sort it out yet. I decide to set the old computer back up but I\'d given my sister the old keyboard. Okay, I thought, I\'d use the new one. Nope, didn\'t work, so I shifted things back. It really wasn\'t a good idea to go moving that heavy CRT monitor around again, so I felt knackered for a while. Another six days pass, when it finally arrives. So, armed with the adapter I set up the computer. Lots of oohs and ahhs at the new flashy system.

Then it came to connecting to the internet. Uh-oh, Houston, we have a problem. Ecept for a brief time it worked long enought to get a couple of automatic updates for the anti virus software, I couldn\'t connect. I phoned BT\'s technical support. After about half an hour working with the technician and no luck she decides that she needs to speak to her superior as a higher level of expertise was required. A few minutes go by and and she gets back to me telling me that her superior says my speedtouch modem is not compatible with windows vista and I would need to upgrade. *sigh*.

I was going to change my broadband package after a little research once back online but I now had to decide just to get back online. I decided on a new package and made the phonecall to set it up. I was told it would take 7-10 days to switch over and receive the new router. Therefore I just resigned myself to having to wait again. Ten days come and go and all I had to show was a letter confirming the details. So, time to phone them up again when I was told the router would be sent out on the 4th April and would take 2-3 days to arrive. So, imagine my surprise when it turned up today, especially after all the delays I\'ve had. So, I\'m back online, yay! NHot all the issues have been dealt with, though. They spelt my name wrong so I\'m stuck with it until they change it (I have to send a letter asking them to) and I can\'t seem to get the new e-mail to work in Windows Mail (formerly known as Outlook Express). I can access it on the website so it\'s not much bother. However, a new ISP means that I can\'t access any missed e-mnails on my btinternet address so my apologies to anyone who might have sent one to that address.

So, what have I learnt? Check the compatibility of all devices with each other and the sofware and make absolutely sure that when you receive the items that not only are all parts accounted for; but that they are all correct for your country.

Okay, so that\'s that.

The other matter brought up in this thread concerning my health. matty is correct, it\'s M.E. that I have. It\'s still debilertating but affects different people to different degrees with different symptoms. How Sally White manages with four kids and helping to run the business is amazing to me. I think she\'s one of my heroes.
