well, i can\'t tell GW helped me discovering minis... started with ral partha and mithril miniatures, seen on casus belli magazine some 15 years ago...
But sure, GW kinda learn me how to paint miniatures, so thx to GW and then thx to CMON for learning me how to paint miniatures WELL :)

lol

Sounded more like a Blackadder-ism to me. :D
It should correctly be termed a \'Ben Eltonism\'. Ben Elton is a complicated individual, half wanker..half genius. Half socialist...half billionaire.

He co-wrote Black Adder and a dozen other things, but seemed to have a trademark phrase along the lines of: \'X\'er than an extremely \'X\' thing.

He is now extremely tedious and I only pay \'..omage to him in a purely post-modern, ironic sense:duh:

I suspect however, that they may have just passed, or about to pass, the point of commercial no-return.
To be fair, the same thing has been said over the past two years or more, with each and every price-hike they\'ve pulled off.

Like so many others, GW got me into minis in the first place. They won\'t get my custom now, though - I\'ve repaid that debt over and over and over. *looking at the boxes and boxes of unpainted minis*

That\'s true...

But now it is being reflected in their market share value.

When a company starts to go belly up, the financiers always advise a price hike. IMO, the thing to do is reduce prices and have a huge sale to raise revenue like GW always used to. Too late, even for that though, I am afraid as far as GW are concerned.

Don\'t forget...all the things a lot of people loved about GW have moved with their originators to other companies. I don\'t think there are any of the \'big names\' left at GW? Are there?

Aye! It\'s a good laugh, after the previous GW rant thread, where they blamed the lagging sales on LOTR flagging, have you bothered to look at their latest releases? A couple of days ago, it was all LOTR stuff. Makes sense to me; feed the thing that\'s killing you. ???

Wait... this wasn\'t supposed to be a GW rant thread, was it? In that case, there\'s this bottle of sherry-matured whisky somewhere around. :D

I\'ll just have to find my own...

I suppose lager will suffice.....*mutter, mumble..*

Lager? A singularly poor cousin next to Glenkinchie Distiller\'s Edition. I\'ll think of you as I sip. :p But you do know that you\'d be more than welcome to a glass, right?

i love the modles of GW but im fed up of the prices going up and up. they seem to think that poeple need tanks, sqouds, paints, ect every day cos people dont they are rasing the prices YET AGAIN:flame:. GW is grate (in model and hobby wise)but, take forge world for example grate detalded models but for the price i would expeked them to fit, not have bits missing OR NO HOLES IN THEM . they need to stop thinking about money and go back to what they used to be like. i bet u they make louds of money:mad:

Look at Warmachine and Confrontation to name but two...You\'ll find better minis, better rules, cheaper prices and low initial outlay.
You\'ll find them by searchng on Google or looking through these very forums :D

BUT....

...not so many people to play against. GW still has a throttlehold on the playing public in many places...in the Copenhagen area, there are 4 lgs\'s, one of them GW. Of the other three, only one carries minis other than GW.

I mean, what\'s a body to do, educate a whole country? ???

(the last was a provocation -- there are people here playng other stuff than WHF/WH40K, but not too many compared with the other crowd.)

I think most people would see you as a hero...

The only person likely to object to new ideas is the silly sod with £1000 worth of the latest GW army.

The only drawback is finding somewhere to play...:(

I should have followed this thread closer I would be out cold by now. Drink anyone another bundy for me , no ice this time I\'ll have to skull a few to catch up.

GW is the only game in town for me (I cant find any other games except flames of war and I aint painting 10mm figures)

I hope they wake up to them selves but once the suits take over a company is usually doomed. I wonder if theygo belly up if its possible to by the right to a game. Id buy warhammer straight up.

We\'ll..

Heres some stuff they did for me, in the past while.

being an original dwarf player, i wanted to start a new army, purchasing a melkhoir on winged nightmare, on a boxing day day of 50% off (this years sale was 15% off). In glee to have one mad vampire on a mount, I tear the box open! The model has no base. Unfortunatly, at this time i am at mon ami\'s house. We are trying enjoy our spoils, and again, sneaky p\'s Dark Elf prince mounted on a dragon is missing a head! Wd call our local hobby store, ot find out that small print can be found on the boxes. Claiming all peices displayed on the cover, may not be included! ???

I tried combining 4 smaller bases, into one larger one. But i soon found need for the smaller bases.
I need a new base. lol

Maybe i\'ll do a mini diomrama, or scenery.

Sorry, but that\'s a load of crap. Oh sure, GW say that the pieces might vary from what\'s shown on the cover, but you obviously got incomplete sets. Like when a dragon I got had two left wings... right, like that\'s the way it\'s supposed to be. Take \'em back and bitch!

As for the missing base, well, that\'s no biggie really. Some plasticard or other rigid plastic works just fine. :)

I think the best move Andy Chambers did was to move to Mongoose to make the Starship Troopers rules. I was a little sad when I read in White Dwarf he was leaving \"for another project\" but then found it was SST!! I danced a little jig lol

Now I have had my eyes opened to new companies I\'m shocked at how ignorant some GW fans are. I direct your attention to the how to do washes thread on the GW forums. Someone asking how they do washes so they can better paint a model from \"some weird game called Warmachine\"

NOT HEARD OF WARMACHINE?!?!!!?!

Exodites then out man...Exodites and out...
