what is best: warhammer 40k, warhammer or LOTR

GreenOne

I paint my thumb.
I\'m biased..

I\'ve been a fantasy fan since forever, so my choice is obvious.

I would have loved a middle-earth wargame, but not Peter Jackson\'s LOTR. It seems only like more useless parafanelia to me, I don\'t fall for that.

I\'m afraid I never had the pleasure to try any of these games.
As for the models I\'m more fond of, I would have to say the ones from Mordheim. Great setting there.

Which edition of these games?

Currently I would have to say Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay V2.0, but since that isn\'t an option I will say Warhammer. If it was back in the 80s I would say Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader.

No way I would ever pick Lord of the Rings, have you played that game? Victory is dependant on a D6 roll where your character\'s stats only matter in the case of a tie, what kind of mechanic is that?

Fantasy for me at the moment, as thats what I\'m painting, although I do have some TAU lined up to be painted soon. I do like the look of ranked units on the battlefield, as \"hakoMike\" says so the vote goes there today!!!!!!!!!!

In terms of gaming, Warhammer is the best in my opinion. The rules system for 40k is bollocks. In terms of background and setting however, 40k is by far the better of the two (I won\'t count Lotr here since it isn\'t a GW setting). The Warhammer setting is just generic and rather dull high fantasy.

Warhammer by all aspects:
First of all, I\'m against lotr, it\'s an imitation of a film, not original, and the original stuff is boring. I also hate the \"6 poses of Gimli\" thing going on.

Warhammer 40K is also very good but it has a few downsides: Not all of the armies are good; Imperial guard look like a modern army, which is nice, but not fitting, the dark eldar are a good concept with a bad practical work.
Necrons are BORING
I am no fan of the tau either, but they are ok, just don\'t like the concept.
On the plus side: A grim world, very gothic, dark themed and I like ruined worlds and showing that there is no real \"Good guy\", the tau maybe good, but not THAT good.
The game is very flexible and fun.

Warhammer: Models are awesome. The world is a classic qualified fantasy world which has grimness mixed with light and hope, (which are not so pure).
The game is really fun, a bit slow, and sometimes annoying but no biggy.
It\'s simply the best game of fantasy battles. There is nothing more fun than to convert WFB models also

Warmchine?!? I have a fledgling Menoth army myself...

but it\'s like being asked, \"Chicken or Fish?\" and answering \"ELEVEN!\"
