Just to sit there with boxes of models all around you.....picking up each blister one by one, marveling at the lead booty held inside. Just the feel of the lead in your hand, it\'s weighty promise exciting your creative juices....OH!...and then in a few moments it subsides and you return the figure to its packaging, where it will wait for you to admire it again........

<sigh> there are so many models in my life, or is it life in my models...?

Hi! My name is supervike, and I have a problem...

I had thought about starting a thread like this before, but was ashamed of myself.

I have been in this hobby for a long time (15+) years. There has been alot of buying sprees and not too many \'painting sprees\' in my hobby time.

I went a little \'crazy\' when i first discovered e-bay and still have hoards of stuff from those days (and occasionally still buy stuff)

I have \'remodeled\' the garage with cabinents and an overlarge pantry. All are now stuffed to the gills with my stuff.

I do tend to worry about this obsession a little when I realize in futility that I will never paint everything I own. Not even if I started today and painted nonstop.

So, I am relieved to know that I am not alone. It doesn\'t help my situation much, but it makes me feel better!!lollol

Personally I blame GW for my affliction - any of you remember the sales they used to have when they wanted to reduce stocks or when they opened a new store.

Living in London meant I could get to a lot of openings!

I\'m not hoarding lead - I\'m building up an emergency supply of recastable materials incase the balloon goes up and I am forced to fall back on my black powder rifles to survive - Or, I\'m protecting my family from radiation poisoning with a nice thick layer of Lead sheilding (course now I\'ve got to save them from lead poisoning)lol lol lol

I buy what i can, when I can, with the unfortunate side effect of having no money for longer than the 15 minutes it takes me to get to my hobby store. oh well it\'s worth it even with this lack of funds, i still find someway to leave about three quarters of my total mini stock unpainted, which isnt\' very large. About 20. And that\'s including my army, too. it\'ll take me aloooong time to get to 2000 points.

I currently have a box full of Reaper and a box full of Chainmail. I\'m currently working on a grenadier boxed set I got on Ebay. Also I have about 40 GW orcs and 20 GW skeletons to do and a bunch of Mage Knight stuff and a bunch of plastic minis from Hero quest, dragon strike etc. I buy what I can get my hands on if I don\'t feel like I\'ll get as good a deal later. The GW stuff is no longer online and if you find a great price on Ebay you have to get it. I will finish, but probably not the Wiz Kids stuff \'cause they are kind of crappy. (They\'re already painted, remember). I recently got most of this stuff as I usually keep up better. The Chainmail stuff is incredibly cheap right now. I think I buy more than I can paint because when I was young there was no access to mini\'s unless you had access to a hobby store. My first Mini\'s were from the two TSR/Grenadier action art boxed sets. They taught me how to paint. They were offered by JC Penny\'s catalog and were my first chance to get mini\'s. When I discovered later how to order from Grenadier or Ral Partha I had no money. When those two companies went belly up it made me think you have to get what you can while you can. Ebay used to be cheap to get mini\'s but the demand has now equalized the prices. I recommend that if you really like a mini you should get it if you can afford it.

Any addiction I have I blame purely on GW. All those codexs they put out are just filled with temptation. Like the new Eye of Terror codex (got it sunday), it has 3 NEW ARMYS!!!!!!!! All of which are based on armys I already have, so the mind starts to think....

\"Well, just 5 more minis to finish this army....and alls I need is 2 more squads to make that army....and a little conversian and I can build the third army.....\"

Sooner or later I just bought out my local store and have 100+ new minis to build/convert/paint/play. By the time this is done, they\'ve got a new codex out (I\'m still finishing my Black Templars and Salamanders from the Armaggedon Codex )

Its easy to fight the temptation of a whole new army, cause thats a lot of work, but when alls you need is a few models to play a new army....what can a man do??????????

Yes, I hoard. I like to have a healthy supply of primed miniatures I can pick from depending on what I\'m in the mood for. Some large monsters, some small monsters, some elves, some humans, some undead. For every 1 mini I paint, I seem to buy 10 or so. If I stopped buying today, it would be 2030 or so before I could paint everything I own. I am working on an inventory and it scares me. I can\'t stop buying. My living room is like a pewter zoo. I need professional help.

On a side note, I try to be considerate with gifts. For example I try to paint at least 1 figure each person got for me last christmas, and have it done before next christmas. Same for BD gifts.

Oh...I have way to many damn minis...

I have over 100 mini\'s sitting on my table in various stages of painting...with probably 2 to 3 thousand unpainted...dating back to the mid 70\'s...

I blame it all on Ebay...Ebay is EVIL...EVIL I say...it comes to me in the dark...and tells me to bid on more minis...please make them stop talking to me...Oh...I need to buy more Confrontation and Reaper Minis? Ok...where\'s my Paypal account? :wow:

I think this obsessive behavior is present in a lot of hobbies.

For instance, my father-in-law has a model train collection that would make even the biggest train barons proud.

A neighbor of mine has enough fishing equipment to provide a pole to everyone in a small country.

Just recently, in \"Fine Scale Modeller\" the editors foreward was touching on this very same topic. He was stating how he has so many \'kits\' that he had to build shelving units. (sound familiar)

Anyhow, Tooshy, it is not just us \'mini-lovers\'-- there are all kinds of sick....er I mean collectors out there.lollol

I am terrible about buying miniatures. I have so many that I\'ll probably never paint.,. and to make matters worse, I paid for lead.. so I paint one figure and get 3-4 unpainted figures for my effort.

Not good.
