What mini are you most proud of painting here on CMON? and why?
Give us the number so that we can see your choice, and let us know why you like this one the best.
Was it your first? lol
Was it your best? :D
Was it your favorite for sentimental reasons? :(
Is it the only one you have loaded?
If you could have but one mini to represent you on this site, which would it be? :wow:

I haven\'t painted a display miniature in a bit, but I know I can do better.

This is the miniature on this site that I like the best. I only see it\'s flaws, but everytime I glance at it I say to myself - Wow, it looks good.

In the end, it makes a great gaming miniature, despite being painted for GD.

BTW, with all the talk about selling miniatures on Ebay, how much do you think someone would pay for this, if it was a Dark Angel, Space Wolf, etc GW made chapter?

Ayyei! Shub Niggurath!

I have to go with my Cthulhu monster conversion.

http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=10861

This marked my first serious conversion and also my first ever sculpting project using something other than Sculpey for a base.

The actual conversion is this picture...
http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=11217

But I think the painting skill is pretty high standard, though I can definately do better with more time.

I always think that my best mini was my last mini! On CMON it would have to be my China Town Long Huang Demon Hunter so far. The paint job just came together so well, and the base worked out pretty well. ID no. 17787

Yesterday my favourite mini not on CMON was an old Citadel dwarf probably dating back to 1985 that I\'d just finished. Today it\'s a Citadel undead banshee that I\'ve just finished! Fickle I know. Both of these will be on CMON in the coming week hopefully.

Well, I\'m sort of embarassed to put my faves up here when so many better ones have been linked already (Glyn, that\'s one of my favorite dioramas I\'ve seen to date).
Okay, here\'s the one I\'m most proud of.
http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=6192
I\'m proud because everything was self-taught. I did him before discovering this site, and now I know so much more, but I think more went into him of a personal nature.
I\'m kinda proud of this one just for all the tiny pictures I freehanded on him - 14 individual charges.

To answer the questions:
No, not my first (my first is no longer intact though I do have some fairly old stuff up here)
Definitely not my best. That would probably be this one:
http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=17302

Now if I could only have one mini (of the ones I have currently posted) to represent me on this site it would be
http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=17302

my dwarf

Thanks.
Probably my best eyes - even if he\'s been called a lawn gnome.
I got a lot of comments about his base, and I\'ve come up with an idea that I think will be good for a few laughs. (could you guess he\'s not a gaming piece?)
Now I just need some free time, which may mean he doesn\'t get done until summer.

Vince, I\'d agree with your choice on your best. That thing is gonna win the contest.. you wait and see.
I have to post my entries tonight, if I ever get that last one done. :|~
Now I guess I should answer, seeing as they are my own questions... lol

My favorite mini I have done on CMON is my Goblin Hero for many different reasons
http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=15666
He looks better in person, as alot of the details and highlights were somehow washed out of the photo. He is also an old friend I used back in the day for actual D&D gaming. I have a real soft spot for those figures I used back then. Ohh, and the fact he looked like crap up until his recent dip, due to the gobs of Testors paint on him. (wish I\'d have had a before picture for your Crappy Or Not site Glyn :D )
The mini I would want to represent me here however, would be my Dragon, http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=14542 which is another oldie (about 11-12 years ago), still wears it\'s Testors paint, and, ironically, is my highest ranked mini. He also has two left Wings... literally. The box had two left wings and no right ones. I bent it as best I could, and to my knowledge, am the only one who notices anymore. lol

The mini I\'m most proud of...

Is the first one I ever painted! I remember saving up my allowance to buy an old ral partha at a scummy little craft store in my hometown. I was nine years old, and I had just come back from Germany with some children\'s Faber Castel Acrylic paints. So using those and my brother\'s testors I painted my first mini!

http://www.blackmoor.ca/blackmoorimages/firstmini.JPG

Does anybody know what he is called? He used to have more paint on him but its gotten quite chipped from rolling around various cases and boxes for the last 20 years. I\'d love to participate in Zaphod\'s Crappy mini project but I don\'t have the heart to strip/repaint him.

So its my first and its sentimental.

As for my best work... If I ever make a 9 on this site, I let you know :D

Peace!

I have to say I am torn between two.

One is my Darkwolf

http://coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=9376

because he has been one of my favorite fantasy characters and I did my first decent job with layering skin tones on him. Also my first score over 6.

The other is

http://coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=16295

because it is my highest score yet and I am really pleased with the skin tone (especially the abs). It is also what I would call a shining example of heroic swords and sorcery fantasy (Conan, Kull, etc.) sculpturally.

Saxonangel -

That mini is a gamma world serpent man. I thought it was a grenadier miniature, but maybe it was ral partha. I have a couple I got to use for conversions but they are so darn thick I gave up trying to cut them in half for the snake body!

Great thread, Lurch !

Well... as much as it may shock you... the mini here I\'m most proud of is NOT one of the girlie-girls...! It\'s this guy:

http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=16783

I\'ve always been a huge fanatic for all things medieval... especially anything that deals with chivalry, knights and the Code of Honor. These knights by Werner Klocke are absolutely stunning, I think. And, I wanted to do the sculpt justice with my paint job since I have only been doing this for about a year.

This Unicorn Knight has led to about a dozen commissions of similar heraldic heroes since I posted him... so, that makes me believe that my painting skills re progressing.

So, for sentimental, as well as artistic reasons... this knight is the one of which I am most proud.

Most proud of? have to say my Riot Girl, simply because when I saw the tiny jpeg of the unpainted figure on New Wave\'s web site I _knew_exactly what I wanted to do with it... and then did! (well almost, at first I wanted her to have a Misfits t-shirt!) Not my best work to be sure, but people here seem to like it anyway :)

Second would probably have to be Gandalf the White, because he\'s probably one of my best paint jobs but was actually done in what for me constitutes a rush (2 weeks) as a Christmas gift for a friend.

SaxonAngel, I have to say that my favorite mini of yours is your avatar, the Blademaiden. But your serpent man done in enamels is, um, pretty good too :) One of the first minis I remember painting was a similar Partha figure, a snake-like creature holding a trident. Did it in Testor\'s metallic green!

Good thread

I would have to say that my best so far is my Grom mini for the CMON contest. It is image number 16123. I left a large explaination of the techniques used. I am most proud of it because: It is the first gem I ever painted with light reflecting on it, the skin was the first time I used extensive blending, same with the sword. I am slowly growing out of the standard, painta weapon black drybrush with silver technique. The photo loses some of the cool highlights on the armor, that is something I am still working on as well.

My favorite is http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=15172

It\'s probably not my best mini, but it\'s my favorite. I think the description I posted with it explains why. I just need to work on getting better photos!

BTW, he\'s one of the Vespero\'s Vendetta duellists from the old Dogs of War regiments. I have a certain knack for picking what GW minis are heading for the archive bins....

Well my mini I\'m most proud of is one I did not yet post. Sorry about that but the only good thing I have for putting my minis on the internet is by using my brother\'s videocamera. And that thing isn\'t supposed to be used for photographing so all the pics will be blurry.:(
But I do have some of my minis on this site, just look in browse images by the G of Garshnak(could someone please place some comments about my work:~(

One I am most proud of

I\'d say my favourite, has to be this guy.

http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=5810

It\'d definitely not highly rated but it\'s the fig that made me really raise the bar of my painting. This is a daemon prince based on Rackham Minotaur and mounted on an inquisitor base. I went way outside my (at that time) comfort zone trying new stuff. This is also my very first NMM.

This has to be one of the best threads yet.

I would have to say that my favourite miniature, and the one I am most proud of is my 54mm Space Marine... He was the first model I tried to paint whilst thinking of a light source, and dispite being fairly simple I am still very pleased with the way the highlights work!

This was also the model that I first tried to paint highlights as highlights... up until then I was really just blending from one colour to another fairly indiscriminately!

I must admit, the picture I have up on CMON is very poor, but here it is
http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=8402

MUCH better pics can be found on my website here - Slave to Paint

I would appreciate it if you could take a look, and I was wondering whether I should repost the model... or is it annoying to come across the same model AGAIN?

Thanks all
Peter
