What RPG is your favorite?

Yeah, I used to play Vampire the Masquerade as well and liked it a lot. The team was as multinational as it could get: a Romanian, a Moldovan, an American, a Bulgarian, a Kazakh and me, Armenian. All vampires. Scary, uh?

I have always liked the MERP (Middle Earth roleplaying) games that were published by I.C.E. they were difficult to get the hang of but very good once you got familiar with them. Then the only other roleplaying I did was Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay in fact I probably still have my first edition buried somewhere. It is due for rel-release soon and that maty spark my interest once again.

Yes GURPS was one of the best RPGs for players. They could play whatever they had in mind.As a \"story-teller\" I liked the fact that considering how boring it was to do NPCs,I had an excuse for not making their character sheets!:D Bah only one rule counts:roleplay!:D

Shadowrun

I must admit I\'m surprised to see anyone else mention it - - I sometimes think I\'m the last person on the planet to remember it.

I always liked the D6 system, except that a 7 was basically the same as a 6. I also loved the point system for character creation. Too bad it never really caught on.

So many miniatures, so little time...

Sadly, I often have to make a choice: play WFRP with a few close mates, or paint miniatures. What\'s a boy to do?!?

Oh man ...

Well, Shadowrun... I liked the general idea, but you either get the system right off the bat, or you never will... I never won\'t.
I would still like to try Paranoia...
Deadlands is a real riot! Loved playin\' it, an\' layin\' id ohn reeel thick, pardner...:D
I do love the storyteller stuff (well, actually I can\'t stand changeling), but imho, it needs one well prepared story/dm, as you can\'t just whip out a pack of sabbat vamps everytime you run out of ideas...
...while this ALWAYS works with orcs. D&D is still #1 good clean fun. Btw, got to get around to doing that campaign universe...
Cthulhu... Scare \'em shitless, or get scared shitless, but you gotta love it!:duh:
GURPS is nice for a change, though...

Oh, and I like to think I have a life...

I would really like to try Cthulu, I\'ve never played a horror rpg. There\'s a swedish game called Kult that is very tempting as well, but as people grow up their \"real\" life seems to take away more and more time from rpg\'s :(

I gotta admit I was into MERP for a long time, it was really nice, because you\'re really existing in the detailed world that was created by tolkeen, so there was always that feeling you could go wherever you wanted at any time and there was material to interact with and not just having the GM making it up as you went :p

But all those charts *shudder*

But since 3rd edition D&D, I haven\'t looked back...

Yeah...

Yeah, who needs a real life anyway!?

Since I moved away for college, I haven\'t been playing much (left all my buds behind *sob*)
But my very significant other wanted to try RPGs, too, so I introduced her to the wonderful world of ... Cthulhu (just the two of us)... well, we had to have a break, as she was getting too freaked out :D (she normally gets the wiggins from watching thriller movies...), so now we\'ve moved to something lighter... Dark Ages: Vampire lol

Mechwarrior II is my favorite currently (going on three years on top of my list), but Palladium Fantasy, Vampire the Masquerade, and Beyond the Supernatural all hold very high positions on the list and rotate by mood.

Brushlicker and Freak!
Paranoia.

Because the Computer is my friend and anything else would be treason.

Started on AD&D Dragonlance, although I had MERP before that, we just didn\'t understand it (no-one to explain it and I was only 11).

I played many different games, including Rolemaster, Ars Magica (my friend wrote the Levant Tribunal book), Runequest, WHFR, Star Wars, Vampire, Mage and GURPS (where I played a young female dragon who spent most of her time in human form and had little idea how tough and strong she was, very entertaining).

I haven\'t roleplayed in years though.

i played Shadowrun with 3 of my middle school friends, but had a bit of a falling out. Stayed close with one of them... he had drawn up his perfect runner, but back then we didn\'t have a clue how to make our own minis. But later on i found out of the magic that is Green Stuff, and he forked over the guns he\'d found and last christmas he got his runner finally. So the two of us went and opened the door of Room 5B78... and found that Dunkelzahn wasn\'t really dead, but was on life support and need human blood to keep him alive... and his guards took us, and feed us to the machine (we had left Shadowrun and got into Wammer 4DK so i think he MIGHT have stolen that from the Emporerlol)

i tryed and wanted to get into D&D, but nobody really plays around me. So i\'m just building an adventure group on the off chance i get some folks to play with... if not, they\'ll still have a nice spot on my shelf.:)

it might be my lack of interest in fantasy stuff or just my humongous manlyness but i find rpgs incredible boring.

The \"I rule\" and \"my humongous manliness\" almost make you sound like Maddox, albeit one who paints little toy men. :D

Tough question...

D&D was my first RPG and first love, but I have to say that GURPS is probably my favorite. Always had a great time playing it.

Cheers,

I think I\'ve gone and scared myself now, because I\'ve played every single game that\'s been mentioned in this thread. Damn, I\'m a geek. lol

Of course, I\'ve also played a bunch that nobody\'s mentioned... (ex. Justifiers)

My faves used to be Shadowrun, then Vampire/White Wolf. Only recently did I find Savage Worlds, and now that\'s my fave. Great system, fast play, and can be used for any setting (better than GURPS, IMHO). Still, though, I\'ve had some great games with other systems, even when the system mechanics themselves sucked rocks. A good GM and group of players makes all the difference...
