I think I should elaborate a bit...
First, Bjorkgnu, interesting piece of fact there, I was more than a bit surprised to see those numbers. Guess it\'s all the newbies who draw the average for GW minis down
Secondly, Nadine & Saxonangel, sorry I got you mixed up, I can be very absently minded sometimes!
Now, where was I...?
Oh, yes, the elaboration part. About only looking at GW minis, what\'s the big deal? AFAIK, CMON\'s motto is something in the line of \"Inspiration in painted miniatures\", right? Well, if wanted to read an elaborate \"how I painted this miniature\", I would go to the \"Articles\" section, not browse through the whole database!
It\'s very rare that you see some decent advise on how the miniature in question was painted, so therefore I only look at GW minis, so I can learn more about modelling and conversion, not painting.
And I\'m sorry to say, but looking at a model of Napoleon doesn\'t make me want to jump away from the computer, grab my minis and start painting, and neither does Confrontation miniatures.
But when I see a Slaaneshi Champion, on the back of a Steed of Slaanesh, expertly painted and converted, THEN I start reaching for my toolbox
This is because that while I haven\'t got the slightest clue about what Confrontation is about, I know the rules from about 8 GW-Systems, plus in-depth fluff from almost every game they\'ve produced. And I like it. A lot. Therefore, it means more to me, to see a GW miniature, because I know \"it\'s emotions\" (hard to explain, but I hope you follow me lol ), I can sense the background of the piece.
And yes, I could learn every game system there is, help the poor, small companies by playing their games, but where I come from, there just isn\'t such a big market for these games, meaning very few players. And I\'m fine only playing GW games!
(A pretty much similar attitude can be found in certain dictatorships, when questions about the public\'s feelings towards the government arises lol )
And yes, I realise that there are other miniatures out there that are painted as good or better than most of the GW stuff you see around her! For instance, when I first saw the cover of a box for a Confrontation-mini (some sort of cyber-troll), I was completely taken aback of the level of detail painted! Why doesn\'t GW do the same with their boxes ???
But it didn\'t inspire me.
This said, I have been close to buying some of the Confrontation Wolfens... To use as basis for Rat Ogre conversions!
