Hmmm... I kinda thought it was gonna be dark elves next. I\'m actually kinda surprised.
By new game version he means rules edition. Currently it\'s the 6th edition. When I started 5 or 6 years ago it was 5th edition. Didn\'t know the rules back then, and hardly know them now. I\'m a very sad player... I\'m constantly consulting my rule book. Generally things they change are things like point cost for units, or make changes to rules to make things run smoother.

Riiiide the treadmill...
Makes good business sense. Not saying I agree with it but with the amount of erratas they have done over the 5 years they really need a new rule book with all the current rules updated. And it is still the cheapest way to start a new army.

Any news on a release date for these???
I know the Kandish are coming out in late feb and the latest WD (fell on the door mat this morning) said there is some more stuff for Wood Elves coming soon but not heard anything on my favourites (Orcs & Goblins)
I remember the Marauder spider riders with a great fondness

Well, dark elves are one of the few armies that don\'t have batallion box right now... The explanation I got was it\'s because they don\'t have a plastic warmachine. Dark elves haven\'t seen much for new models in a while, so that\'s kinda why I thought they might be next.
Yeah, I cannot disagree with you, emo. It\'s been quite a while since Menghil Manhide\'s Manslayers have come out now, and AFAIK, those are the only new stuff the Dark Elves have had since their official release. I reckon the big reason they have no battalion box is simply that they have so few plastics. Only spearmen and crossbowmen are plastics, and they are made from the same sprews. Everything else has metal.
There have been rumours for well over a year about a plastic bolt thrower, new plastic dark riders, plastic corsairs and all that. I just want better cold ones than the battle cows they\'ve got right now.

I don\'t mind the current Cold ones. At least for the chariot. I guess they could be better for the cold one knights. I never really thought about the fact that they have so few plastics... To be honest I forgot about the manflayers... They were pretty neat models thats for sure. I would think that the dark elves would be redone soon. Maybe after orcs (if they are the next army indeed)?
i have sent an email to games workshop australia and they have no idea what\'s coming up next, one of the guys on the games workshop forum said that he had also sent an email to games workshop (might not be the Australian one), and they said that it is Empire, then Orcs. Next yeat also the starter box set of warhammer will contain new orc models versus the soon to be released dwarf models. That\'s how much i know. One of the guys in my hobby store said that most of the models are same age and that all of them need to be redone including the game version. I really want high elves to be redone, as they look cool. Cheers everyone.

they have an orcs and goblins giant coming out it is up on the previews.presonally i think they have been lazy all the giants look the same except a few minor changes

As far as i know GW siad they are going to have two new army releases per year, and with Wood Elves having come out in July i\'d guess then. But considering GW \'6 month\' rumour cycle we should start seeing new Orcs any time now...
(Of course i could have completly got this wrong and, say, Empire are next and they\'ll come out in december!

They have only released one Giant it can simply be customized to whichever army you want with the spru that it comes on.

They just (a year ago?) updated the list so they can include slannesh... and also the sales on Dark Elf is lower than other armies... They would not be supprised to see it go the way of Dark Eldar (since they have the same feel to them)
Orcs and Goblins have not been redone the longest (by what I have been told) but Empire sells more... so anyones guess is good...
My vote for the next armybook to be redone is Dogs of War...

I will be a bit put out if they redo Dark Elves any time soon. I believe the minis they have are splendid, for the most part, and they did receive a rules update in Nov 2003 too, part from the Slaanesh army list. But that\'s just rules.
As for sales, well, I suppose they can be expected to have lower sales, since there\'s nothing new to keep interest up. When sales dip in an army\'s heyday, that\'s when it\'s going to die out, but the Dark Elves are just waiting for their next day. Besides, with over 10,000 points worth of Dark Elves, I\'m not going to be buying anything soon unless it\'s for conversion purposes.

I think it comes down to this, either an army will be completely redone or they will bring out a battalion box at a pretty random time (High elves, Skaven) because those armies are years away from revision and i fully expect Dark Elves to go down this route, becuase Dark Elves are way too established in the Warhammer world for GW to even think of getting rid of them..
