What\'s your workspace like?

With 3 kids roaming the house, I can\'t afford to keep ANYTHING out of the top shelf. So my workspace is very clean since it gets tidied up after each painting session with everything back in boxes on the top shelf.

Same boat. I can keep my supply box / bits box and army transport in a little stack in a corner of the kitchen (which my children are kind enough to leave alone) but, like a TV episode, everything is back to normal at the end of the night. I keep my WIP\'s on the corner of the pots and pans shelf, high above little fingers.

Yeah, before I built my large, comfortable worktable I used to sit in the couch painting at a small table. I could never sit for very long, since my back started aching after one or two hours.

Inspired by this thread, I decided last night that it was time to change my workspace. I had been (until this evening) working on the kitchen table, and I had taken over the entire thing. It\'s one of the very few advantages living in a house full of bachelors (the disadvantages numbering in the thousands if you\'re into hygiene  ).

Here\'s what my previous workspace looks like (present tense because it\'s not completely cleaned off yet):

And here\'s what it looks like as of now:

I still have to transfer most of my bits, but I want to organize all my bits into various \"Gladware\" tubs to aid in assembly, since Ork armies require hundreds of models. I know I\'m selling out when it comes to my messy painting space, but I\'m sure in due time I\'ll have the workspace in my bedroom horribly disorganized. lol

Note the extra lamps, cos I paint most of my time after work (dark here you know:( ). If Supervike is looking, Jim spot the box;). Another important thing is the big Hi-fi with speakers pointing at me

Don\'t ask why there are 3 suits in this picture, not like I wear them that often ???

Andy, why are there suits in the pic? lol

Just been to court again no doubt! Either that or you are, in fact, a very sensible man :D.

God bless.

Grumb\'s workspace...

...and mine eventually. We haven\'t negotiated space quota yet! :D (It\'s our fourth bedroom/Scott\'s office in the basement.)

And for now, here\'s my messy workspace! I\'m trying to get this antique mahogany fireplace mantle done before the remodelers need to install it. I don\'t think I\'m going to make it seeing as how they\'ll be done, probably, by the end of next week. :(

with how messy we all seem to mostly
be, it is a wonder we get any image on
the site, in forums or gallery, cause they
are probably close to being lost on our
computer in the same clutter as our work areas. :D

@Gibbon: You have my mouse! Mine is kind of a greenish off-white now, but other than that, they\'re the same.....

Errr, yeah, just in case you cared. :D

Here\'s some WIP pics of the new table I\'m making to replace the old one :

table1.jpg

and a detail of the joinery:

table2.jpg

This table when complete will be 2.05 meters long (that\'s just shy of 7 feet!) and has two drawers just deep enough for minis and a sliding tray for paints, brushes, etc.

Removabled extension leave will bring the total possible length of the table up to a whopping 11 feet 10 inches!

Room enough on this beast for the least discerning mini gourmand.....heh,heh....and for the computer screen....and food....why, no reason to leave the table at all!

:D:D:D

In image of the old table is on the previous page...

Red Dawn:

how are you gonna use that antique mahogany fireplace mantle as a work area?:D

Late as usual...

@Marineboy - Thats not a work area my friend, that is a work of art! makes the crappy little shelf I built an embarassment. :D

I finally took a picture of my work area -

thecockpit.jpg

just added that mini shelf on the left for WIP\'s, the desk was getting kinda loaded up. The paints are supposed to all be in the drawers, but as soon as I put them away I take them all back out. I got to come up with a better way to organize them.

Can you spot the secret mini I\'m sending to EricJ?lol
