What\'s your workspace like?

Clean

With 3 kids roaming the house, I can\'t afford to keep ANYTHING out of the top shelf. So my workspace is very clean since it gets tidied up after each painting session with everything back in boxes on the top shelf.

At one time I would have been jealous of some of you with dedicated work spaces but I am so used to painting with others around me that I think I would get lonely off on my own.

A problem I now have is that my son has started to paint minis (he\'s 13) and uses my paints and equipment (Not my brushes or vallejo paints however) and just chucks them back in the box when he\'s finished so I can never find what I want. Also - as space is limited - if he gets there first I end up watching tv.???

I just got my PainTier today- really cuts down the space... But now I have to look through the leaning tower of Piza to get a paint I want.. :p

Saxonangel - Yours is much neater than mine - I cant even get to it right now so there are minis on the computer that I am working on while I surf the net from home - every once and a while my wife to be raises hell and they move back where they belong on the mess that is my paint surface.

Mine is pretty tolerant too... Maybe I\'ll buy her some more minis on my way home!:D

In fact she paints as well... Thus, the workspace in itself is the living/dining room, table for painting/converting and a shelf for minis... I think my dinner table has served only 3-4 times for its real purpose... and only when we moved in! lol

:innocent: Hi... I\'m a newbie and thought I would add my 2 cents worth......lol
I’m lucky to have a spare room that now holds the computer/ paint station and “I don’t know where to put all this junk”.
I’ve an old desk that I paint at....also do to a busybody cat I have to keep it clean and tidy after a days work, Technicolor cats are a no-no.

Now here are a couple of guys whose wives are very lucky to have them. I\'ll have to show this to my husband now. Maybe I\'ll get some flowers, or minis instead of his dirty laundry someday!

BTW, Under the same link as before:
http://www.blackmoor.ca/blackmoorimages/myworkspace.JPG

I\'ve cleaned up my mess from February and replaced it with yesterday\'s cleaning spree. Above the chair is some IKEA storage housing all my cleaning, conversion, sculpting tool and supplies. The two magazine holders are references: miniature catalogs, one or two army books and some inspiring minis I\'ve printed up from CMON.

On the wall is a big picture of Cyril\'s nurgle lord. :)

Next to the chair are boxes of loose bitz. And those are specific to the style of project I\'m doing now. ie: Fantasy.

Not seen, But! Under my chair is more references in the form of anatomy books, calenders and a stack of old playboys.

Next to the chair under the desk is a 5th ed Warhammer box with another 3000 points worth of Orcs and Goblins left to paint. Barely visible is an AD&D castles box filled with Reaper minis.

You can see where I take my pictures there too. That\'s my old digital camera standing on my tripod from yard sale (only $7 !!).

I have a plastic desk pad on top of a white sheet of paper. A popsicle mold serves as my water bin. There are two orange jars of \"Good brushes\" and \"Bad brushes\".

And you can see some of my current projects going now. Any guesses?? ;)

Of course there are my paints and beside me and in the glass case above the chair are primed or WIP models that I have put aside.

In addition to this I have a 5\'x3\'x8\' closet space for miniature modeling supplies. And there\'s about 600 sq feet of my basement dedicated soley to games, comics and models. Not to mention the work I do in the garage and the basement workshop (bases, filing, conversions...messy stuff).

Peace!

I think you need to talk to Corvus..

He has got some strange habits as well (...only 1 unpainted mini indeed!!)

That workspace is unnatural. Where is:

*The overflowing ashtray
*The beer/wine/shot glass
*The blood stains
*The empty bottles (alcohol)
*Teeth marks in the desk
*empty crisp packets
*dirty cups
*old plates
*half eaten pizzas
*copies of *Playboy* (for accurate skintones- see other thread)
*The overly inquistive pet that has come to check on what you are doing because you havent paid attention to them in the last two minutes
Need I go on?

Call that a workspace...huh!lollollol

Finn - you forgot the overly inquistive pet that has come to check on what you are doing because you havent paid attention to them in the last two minutes :D

Replace the word \"pet\" with \"offspring\"

Angela - I dont have the joy of rug rats yet - just two 45+ lb dogs that like to stick their noses on that spot on your back where your shirt and pants have split coverage while you are concentrating on what you are doing lol

leads to much screaming and wailing and barking of dogs and repainting of lead.

I love the idea of popsicle molds for water bins. Sheer genius! Will definately need to steal this :p

So when do we get to see your succubus?

Good eyes there dauber.

Hopefully she\'ll have her first public appearance in the second issue of Harbinger Magazine.

I\'m trying out something completely new with her. I hope I don\'t just f**k it up.

Peace!

Thats Sophie from Reaper, right? And knowing that you have small children explains the unnatural (spooky even) cleanliness of your work area.

Sorry Tuubje

Just trying to find a glove that fits. As I said earlier, or in another forum, Avatar changes take a long time now, so whereas before you could experiment in a \'quiet moment\' now you are stuck with the thing for a day or so.
