What\'s your workspace like?

My work area consists of a rather large corner desk with a computer setup and a large cleared space which I use for what ever I happen to be doing at the time (Researching, painting, etc.).
Next to it I have a small round dinner table which has two servers and a small place for my laptop (which is normally in it\'s bag).
As I\'ve only just started painting again, my WIP consists of an old unit of Dragon Princes and the CMON contest mini (just got it) so everything fits onto one of those pen trays that normally sit in desk draws, save my Vallejos, which sit in the postal box they came in.
When not in use, these sit on top of my bookshelf (where the daughter can\'t reach) with the spraycans, etc.

Since we live in Korea space is very limited. So, I confiscated our kitchen table and converted it into my painting area.

This is also a testiment to my love of the hobby. My says,\"If you use the table for your little metal men I won\'t be able to make perogies again.\" I haven\'t had her home made perogies for over two years ago.:(lol

Nelson- The top heavyness you see is a a distortion of the picture stitching I did. The unit is too big to fit into one picture. I assure you the desk is very square and quite stable.

Calavera- Those are indeed two Armorcast Titans. You links to yahoo don\'t appear to be public however.

There are some other fun oldies, but goodies in the pic too;) Bonus points to those of you that spot them.

NOT workspace....Play Station!!

And, Ohhh the pleasures of living alone! My whole house is dedicated to my Play station, but most of it is neatly camouflaged by the facade of a normal abode!

The first photo is the normal(not formal)dining room with all doors closed. You need to avert your eyes to the right as I do not have enough room to hide everything; hence, the left side is my primary operative space.
Dining Room

The next photo(with doors open) is the left side, which the top houses a lot of primed figures ready to paint for commission and/or, eBay....and the lower left side for some of my paint, etc.
Left Side figures&paints

The last photo(with doors open) is the right side, which houses most of my basing materials, etc....Also shows WIP on the table. I always keep ongoing projects on individual trays(because I switch from painting to sculpting). This way, I simply have to move the tray to change modes....Less time consuming!
Right side/Basing materials:D

I have an entire, walk-in closet filled to the brim with paints, miniatures and materials. I can\'t seem to throw anything away, yet am unable to work in a cluttered environment, so everything\'s labeled and alphabetized....call me neurotic!:(

Faye, Nice work area, I have just a small desk as I have daycare in my home, I settled for a roll top desk, I love how organized you are, and my hubby and I got a real chuckle out of the first picture, with the book shelf, with the books arranged by height! :bouncy:

Hey I need you to come to my house and have a go, my painting desk is about the most organized place I have.:D

Day-Care...EEEeeeek!!!!

Gin: You are indeed a woman with balls!! I\'d rather be dipped in chocolate and served up to them lesbians. It was all I could manage to raise my three, get them through college and out the door! Whew, I couldn\'t imagine doing that over again...:eek::eek:

But, with regard to organizing the roll-top Painting Desk, I\'d be most happy to lend a hand! :D

P.S. Did you notice the color-coded paint rows? You might have to click on the picture to enlarge!;)

Faye: you\'re beginning to scare me!
How can any painter have such a tidy work area? Next thing you\'ll be telling us is that you paint in a white formal dress and never spill anything.;)

Tell you what, Mike, I\'ll photograph my work area next - that should be enough clutter and mess to restore your sense of equalibrium. :)

I have two desks now. One for painting, one for assembly/flocking. I\'m happy to have the stuff that generates flakes and odd bits well away from my painting area.

I still use my table for some things. Cedric (my son) and I were preping a bunch of minis together, and we worked on my kitchen table.

Faye, I really like your work area. It\'s so organized and neat! Any organization in MY work area is strictly a product of the need to transport a good chunk of my painting stuff to a weekly painting workshop. Hench, I have a double-decker tackle box which will hold most of my stuff.

If not for this \"enforced neatness\", my stuff would be far more scattered.

Ahh, the days when I actually had a desk to work on. When I had all my paints spread out and arrainged by color and type - non metallics on one end metallics on the other - and a 4 inch deep 6 foot long shelf to store my WIPs on - all gone. We moved and now my paints live in a small (3 ft by 1.5 foot box) and in two other containers of similar size you will find my basing materials. Most of my wips live in a cardboard box under the bed, with a select few - 30 or so living in a display case above my 2 ft workspace.

Dragonsreach:...don\'t be silly, that\'s improper etiquette; And, never spill anything??... Why, that\'s simply absurd; Living alone and all, I paint in the nude....no clothes ruined, I use my body as reference for sculpting & painting, and the paint washes off easily from skin in the shower!:D:flip::bouncy:

Work area

First of all- Faye, you scare me ;) I might be able to have an area that neat if I didn\'t have a messy husband and a toddler to contend with :)

Well, here\'s a pic of what I call the Hobbby Corner. The table on the East wall is mine, while the one on the North wall is my husband\'s.
The pictures were taken by me standing on the chair in front of the computer desk, so this whole room is basically Mom amd Dad\'s playroom (and don\'t take that the wrong way!). I figure it\'s fair since my 21 month-old daughter has her toys all over the living room, so that\'s her playroom.

The boxes on the floor contain terrain pieces (my husband\'s creations) and one holds rags (always a neccessity).

Faye, you are scaring me. I think you need professional help. That is just wrong ... and sick... and I am most envious.

Duende, that is more like it.

The sad thing is that my wife saw Faye\'s painting area. Now she is asking why mine is not that neat. Faye, I will get even with you for this. lol

I finally got both computers moved into the spare bedroom and took over the extra desk that had been hiding in there. I just set up my painting stuff after putting it off for a year or so (heck no, I never procrastinate...). SO-my workspace is still tidy but only because it\'s only been set up for 3 days.:)
