A while back I unknowingly bought several rackham recasts from China.
Sadly you are not the only one to have fallen into that trap. A couple of friends bought some for me in good faith, knowing how much I like Rackham. I've accepted them as the presents they were intended as, but they and I realise how easy it is to get 'conned'.
I haven't purchased from him since, but now I want to replace the counterfeit ones with genuine ones. After all I bought the models for their looks and quality.
Congratulations on not buying again, however the chance of getting genuine ones is low due to the scarsity.
I couldnt knowingly fool someone into buying them and I think it is still illegal even if I say they are counterfeit. What should I do with the counterfeits once I get the real ones? Sell them as scrap metal? NO
I'd suggest that despite the fact they are counterfeit, paint them yourself rather than pass them on. Yes, you'll know that they are not genuine but used them as training pieces even if it means stripping them a few times. That way you'll gain the practise and even given that you've realised that they are dodgy, you may get a little pleasure out of the work. If you sell them on even specifying them as counterfeit you could risk breaking several laws.
