What to do if you get counterfeit models

A while back I unknowingly bought several rackham recasts from China. I haven't purchased from him since, but now I want to replace the counterfeit ones with genuine ones. After all I bought the models for their looks and quality. I couldnt knowingly fool someone into buying them and I think it is still illegal even if I say they are counterfeit. What should I do with the counterfeits once I get the real ones? Sell them as scrap metal?

Sadly you are not the only one to have fallen into that trap. A couple of friends bought some for me in good faith, knowing how much I like Rackham. I've accepted them as the presents they were intended as, but they and I realise how easy it is to get 'conned'.

Congratulations on not buying again, however the chance of getting genuine ones is low due to the scarsity.

I'd suggest that despite the fact they are counterfeit, paint them yourself rather than pass them on. Yes, you'll know that they are not genuine but used them as training pieces even if it means stripping them a few times. That way you'll gain the practise and even given that you've realised that they are dodgy, you may get a little pleasure out of the work. If you sell them on even specifying them as counterfeit you could risk breaking several laws.

I definitely won't sell them. I contacted the eBay seller and filed a dispute on PayPal but it is past the 45 days. I'll probably just give them to a friend if I get genuine ones. I already have enough models to practice on.

You could always, once you acquire the real-deal ones, make a diorama of them both. Guess which one would be on the losing end of the dual?

Sell them to some other unsuspecting buyer.

Caveat Emptor!

It's a dog eat dog world out there.

(don't take any of that seriously, I'm just bitter today....) LOL

Send an Evesor assassin after the guy who pirated them. That would be my first action. Second would be ummm maybe just wear the loss and toss em in ya bitz box or paint them up as unit fillers or maybe even make casualty models out of them?

Im starting an ebay dispute. I tried with paypal but im out of my grace period, so i dont think they'll help.

Im probably just going to give them away to my friend.

Even if the disputes don't go your way...post negative feedback stating they are counterfeit. I've bought counterfeit DVDS wih original packaging (including the white 'edge stickers,' whatever they're called ). I posted the negative feedback and 2 weeks later the account was gone. It takes few feedbacks, but I think Ebay frowns on counterfeiting...

Can I be your friend? LoL

Just wondering now that you have your hands on a real one is there a lot of difference?
I wish the game was still active it would give me a reason to buy the figures.

It's too late for that I gave him positive feedback because I was completely unaware. They're convincing if you don't have the real counterpart next to you.

I don't have the real ones yet, my friend will hold on to them until I finish doing commission work for him. Although I have seen real dai-baikemonos vs the counterfeit and there is a pretty drastic difference. The tattoo grooves are a lot crisper, the detail on the feet of mine are horrible. The metal is also a lot softer than the real ones. There are dents all over the fine detail on my thermo warriors. Once I get replacements in hand I will post pictures of the difference.

By the way the ebay seller I bought them from is caomao1122, store name Dream box in suzhou. Do not be fooled by his positive feedback, the negative ones will tell you they are recasts.[h=1]

Ebay are against counterfeiting but there are so many items on there that are counterfeit they don't have the staff that can recognise the difference before customers get stung by it and in some instances even when they are obvious counterfeits to those of us that can.spot them there are tons of others out there that are blind to it one of the more obvious ones.i can think of off the top of my head is individual figures from.gw's black library daemonifuge diorama only 1000 made and on occassions you will find genuine.complete sets but regularly i see ephrael stern and silas hand.on there with blank base tabs which just stand.out.more to me because e two figures had a cylindrical peg on one foot each so that they could slot into the diorama base yet the tab is attached to that for both then looks like a normal flat tab on the other

one.of.the more recent.ones i am noticing is the packaging too i'd like to think if i am buying a.figure.in.a it's sealed original blister pack that it would be an original but.i've seen a 25th anniversary emporer's champion in what looks like a brand new sealed blister except it's not the one off anniversary cardbacking it came with but a generic 40k one that they were.phasing out. And usually the same.seller has several other rarities on sale at the same time the particular offender that has the two of these also has a load of gamesday minis up some in blisters gamesday design but without the year after it i've never bought a gamesday mini but.pretty sure their packaging is year specific an american paining contest demon the one holding the brush aloft and a sergeant centurius but rather than an old school plastic backpack with banner pole it to is also cast in metal

reporting them will by all means get ebay to.shut.down.their accoujt if enough people do it but they'll just get another one as people are buying these items and more often than not spensing quite a bit.on the items because.of the.rarity they think they are getting which i think makes it a bit worse than counterfeit dvds or cds etc but how can you educate every person on ebay buying these items that they are fakes when all they see is an item they want i admit i've been tempted to buy some myself when i know it is for a mini i know i'll never lay my hands on legit but paying £30 for a counterfeit mini just doesn't sit well with me hell if thwy were more reasonable prices i may be less snobbish about.it but can youever expect someone that is counterfeiting.for profit to be fair and reasonable?

Unfortunately my time window to dispute has closed. Kind of crummy considering the circumstances. I'm just going to report anything he tries to sell.

I wouldn't recommend reporting anything they sell if you can't substaniate it's counterfeit it is more likely to go against yoy and a lot of these sellers are really good at lambasting the people working fir ebay if you look in the forums for counterfeit products you will often see posts from power sellers that have been accused of selling counterfeit merchandise giving excuse as to why their products aren't counterfeit a recent example i saw was about retro video games being sealed in ordinary cellophane rather than the branded stuff personallyy i'd see that more as selling a product as new when.it is second hand but they had a valid arguement that it wasn't a genuine item without that wrapping and the seller just dismissed it saying that the warehouses he was buying the stock from didn't feel the need to put the official branded wrap on the items as it was adding to the expense when they weren't selling them for much tbf this.does happen.but it is generally very small publishers that do it to cut production costs much like the way somebgames will work in all regions the number of titles that do this are select so it without knowing.the exact title he could be telling the truth but it seemed to broad a generalisation to be a valid defence

my digression aside i'd stick with buyer beware rather than creating more problems for yourself
